Hi guys,
I have a Majesty Monarchy 7 string 2018 model and I recently noticed that I cannot get a crystal clear sound though my amp or my vst plugins if I have the guitar volume set to 100%. It sounds a bit crunchy and I can only achieve a fully clean sound when I set the volume to around 60 to 70%. Today I noticed also that if I engage the +20 db boost the sound is distorted even more and also in very low volumes like 5 or 10%, so a clean sound with the knob pushed out is not possible anymore.
Is the preamp faulty? I read somewhere that if I use rechargable batteries in this guitar they will destroy the preamp for some strange reason and I'm using only rechargable batteries.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Rechargeable batteries cannot destroy a preamp, that's nonsense. But rechargeable batteries often have a lower voltage compared to alkaline batteries, even when fully charged. I don't know about the majesty specifically but if battery voltage gets too low, distortion is always a possibility. (With my Cutlass preamp, distortion was the sign that battery voltage was too low).

So, first change the batteries for brand new fresh alkalines and see what happens. If you still have an issue, contact Music Man customer service.

Can other Majesty users chime in here with your experience?

Is it possible you're just running out headroom (i.e. the distortion is coming from your amp or interface)?

What you're describing is distortion when the output is too loud ... which is exactly how you get distortion ;)
