Majesty Strap Locks

Hi All,

Finally after waiting almost 6 Months I got my first MusicMan Guitar - A Majesty in Polar Noir. Picures will follow...
I have owned dozens of Guitars and that one really stands out and is unbelievably easy and fun to play.
It's hard for me to put it down since it arrived :-)
For every Guitar that I usually buy, one of the first steps is installing proper strap locks. Now I am wondering if someone already did that on a Majesty and which locks were used. I am a little bit afraid that screws might be too long or the guitar does not fit in the case anymore.

Any Input is highly appreciated.
 
To the best of my knowledge they are not locking buttons, just regular strap buttons (see the first photos here, The Majesty). Can you post a photo of yours?

If there were strap lock buttons on the guitar, the matching part for the strap would have to be included. I would also assume Music man would use their own "Super Locks", which are excellent, by the way!

We an unofficial rule here - new guitars don't exist without pictures! Welcome to the forum! :)
 
Thanks for the fast answer :-) I already tried to capture some good Photos but it looks so much more beautiful in Reality, especially the small gold sprinkles. I will give it a try again when I get home after work.
It just had regular strap Buttons and as I am always scared to use standard strap buttons I need to change them.

Found these but I am not sure if they fit (And yes the color is not matching 100%)

Yes, they'll fit just fine and you can use the original screws (I assume they fit inside the new buttons) which is what i did on my Silhouette Special.
 
I did - I use Schaller locks and they fit just fine reusing the screws in the stock strap pins on the Majesty - no problem at all.

Congrats on an awesome guitar!
 
The Majesty is definitely better than my Camera ;-)
It is simply not possible for me to get it as it really looks. Ich changes color a little bit according to the light situation, there are small gold particles all over which are usually not seen but they are there :-)
It love that it feels like a 3/4 guitar but it is not. Simply amazing work.
Feeling really proud of having such a pice of art.

I will go for the straplocks above and a new set of Schallers should also be in the basement - somewhere.

I used Schallers since they were what was in stock locally. I remember the stock screws being too long and the ones that came with the Schallers were the wrong thread count. Went to the hardware store, matched the wood screw threads with a shorter screw, strap locks went in and no problems since.
 
And if you don't want to screw and re-screw that leads to slowly dissolving wood and a bigger hole -- Planet Waves Lock straps work really well.
 
I had the Schallers for a long time. They have just one design flaw - if you forget to periodically tighten the nuts (and you must!), they fall off the guitar and guitar hits the floor. I've had it happen on dark stage, nut lost forever, and finished the gig sitting down without a guitar strap. EB locks have the fastening nut on the underside of the strap. Once locked on the guitar even if the nut unfastens the strap is still locked on the guitar and you can't lose the nut until you take the strap off. Nice!
 
Thanks a lot for the input! I think it got me somehow, starting to sell some of my collection. I have far too many Guitars. I better go with less but better ones. Almost got a Majesty 7 GF today but it was in a too bad shape. The Tremolo cover looked horrible, oxidated somehow, they must have put it in a wrong place in the shop and used wrong cleaning stuff. I think finally they somehow tried to sand it. Strings were also completely corroded. Really sad to so something like this.
Maybe I get a Copper fire 6 or a 7 :)
 
The other cool thing is that with the MM guitars/cases, you can store the guitar in the case with the strap and strap locks in place and it all fits great. My other brand guitar/case doesn't allow me to store it with the strap on the guitar - I have to take it off in order to close the case. The MM guitars, ready to go!

Yep but I would be a little bit careful when placing the guitar with the strap on inside the case in case some parts start scratching the surface when closing the lid or when transporting. Better be safe and not put the strap to the guitar itself in the case...*)

*) I had such an accident on an RG750 15 years' ago, a nasty scratch on the neck.
