Hi all. I just purchased a supposedly monarchy majesty off reverb. It appears to have the same gloss finish front and back which is purposefully what I was trying to avoid. Love the matte finish on the neck! My fingers don't stick at all. So my question is is there any other way I.e. Serial numbers or any other identifying definitive way to tell a later Model majesty versus the monarchy majesty? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The differences would be the finish options that are/were available. Another thing to look for would be the mirror inlays on the Monarchy vs. the pearloid-looking ones on the new models, as well as the polished fretboard on the Monarchy vs. unpolished on new models. The pickups are different, and you can tell visually by the pole pieces. They are uniform on the newer models, whereas the Monarchy ones have the PAF-style pole pieces (I'm sure there's a technical name for that).

The current pickups, the Rainmaker and Dreamcatcher, have two "screw" coils with flathead screw pole pieces. This is actually pretty normal for Dimarzio, however usually their pickups have hex screw pole pieces.

The previous pickups I think had the standard SCREW and SLUG coils.
