nope he's still alive, 92 now. maybe your'e thinking of Chet Atkins?

No, I read an article on him a couple of years ago, which said he had a standing gig in a small NYC club, but had passed on. I even emailed an old friend about it. Weird.

Same thing happened to me at a Sevendust show. I had meet and greet tickets, so I knew I was meeting them, which kinda makes me feel retarded, but anyway... The band was sitting at a table letting people come up and get stuff signed and talk, I had no problem talking to the guitarists or the singer, but when the drummer Morgan Rose came up, I went deer in headlights mode haha. The dude is a beast on drums, and his vocals dont make me want to hug him, so instead of shaking his hand when he put it out, I shoved my cd case for their new album into it haha, I quickly made up for it and shook his hand, but damn I felt dumb.

On the brighter side, the singer Lajon new I was a guitarist just from looking at me :]

Generally, I don't get excited about celebrities. I see them ALL the time in NYC and it's not a big deal anymore. In America, celebrity has an entire idolization thing happening that is sort of scary.

Admittedly, when I meet someone I truly admire and then it is different. I met Michael Hedges and talked to him for a couple of minutes and that was just amazing. I was just totally nervous. Very cool guy.

Thanks for sharing...

I wasn't able to post yesterday...I was at a wedding for most of the day. when I came home, I went to sleep. I'll post pics of the Axis soon, perhaps sometime tonight...

Thanks for sharing your stories, I got a good laugh from them. It's nice to see that other people can relate to my situation...:)

My wife and friends thought it was funny. Looking back, I think it's pretty funny and I was very polite about the whole thing; just wish I could've said something different.

What's kinda strange is I've never really listened to him and I don't own any of his albums and the only music from him that I've heard is on the radio or in movies. I've always been into Classic Rock, Hard Rock and Metal, but, I knew that was Eddie Money talking to me on Friday.

I kinda wish I had bought tickets to the show; the soundcheck I heard was great...

A friend of mine's Dad once spent a whole flight from Barbados to London chatting to the bloke sat next to him about their Walkmans (which were the big thing at the time - mid '80's).

Came home and said to his son, "I met this really nice bloke on the flight. We had the same Walkman. Apparently he plays drums in some band I've never heard of....I think he said they were called Genesis?".

Must have been one of about 10 people on the planet who didn't recognise Phil Collins in the mid-80's. I reckon PC must have quite enjoyed that at the time:D

LOL! Great story. I'll bet Phil was very happy that his Dad had no idea who he was. Must have been a relief.

Yeah, Eddie's pretty cool. I use to see him cruising around No. Ca in his 57 t-bird in the 80', really down to earth guy.

On another celebrity related story, Does anyone remember Greg Kihn? I guess he's sort of famous. Well anyway, I was shopping at a home improvement store in northern ca. , when I see this guy walking around with this beautiful asian girl by his side, talking really loud and she's telling everybody in the store: "you know who this is, this is greg kihn of the greg kihn band and everybody's like greg who? it was hilarious. It was as if they were looking for admiration or something.
I've also seen them (a year earlier) at a home depot, doing the same thing. I mean come on give me a break, talking about a couple of douche bags, these two take the cake
