Got a chance to hang out over a few days with pug.

Just wanted to say thanks to he and his very cool wife. We saw jeff beck, ate big juicy steaks, jammed (well...we would've if we both weren't experiencing some technical problems), drank, gambled, and went to Pat's desert music.

All in All a fine time. Especially after a tough week in denver where my friend had surgery to remove a tumor.

Really appreciate it Pug.

Did you enjoy Jeff Beck? I saw him in London a couple of years and was even more gob-smacked than I thought I would be.

A truly unique guitarist...

Beck is one amazing player, but amazing in a different way to everyone else. Just has that "IT" that not many players have. unique style, has the greatest tone, especially live, how he gets some of those sounds with just his fingers and a strat is just incredible.

legend!!!!!!!

Keith,

No problem, my friend. You are always welcome at our house. I'm still a bit speechless about seeing Jeff Beck live. I honestly doubt there is a sound that he cannot squeeze out of his guitar. The guy is truly one of the best ever. Watching him play was truly an experience and reinforced why I love to play guitar. The pure joy he has playing is obvious. The instrumental version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was delicious as well

Who was that young woman singing with him........Hannah... ???

Seeing Jeff live is an experience of a lifetime. Even my wife enjoyed his show (and believe me, that's really saying something!). The guy can do anything he wants to with the guitar and make any noise/sound he wishes. And tone for days to boot! Now, what could he do with an Albert...............

Beck was unbelievable. I read in the hotel magazine a description of his playing that referred to it as "Sweet & Sour".

Really nailed it imo. He left out freeway Jam, which has always been a favorite of mine and no Space boogie either. Interesting to note the only time I noticed him using a pick was during Scatterbrain. Everything else was fingers and slide. Lots of slide which sounds like no one else using one.

Wow I would have love to have seen that! He's one of my all time favourite musicians. There's just no one else on the planet that plays like him.

Beej,

I totally agree, he is definitely his own entity on guitar. Like I said, there is no sound imaginable that he cannot coax from his guitar. Keith snagged some awesome seats so we were able to have a clear view of Jeff all night long. The most amazing thing to me was being able to watch all of the different techniques he uses to get vibrato. Truly insane
He also mastered using his pinkie on the volume knob (reminded me of Morse's technique) for volume swells and other groovy things.
