what do you think of them, the only place i have seen them was in the uk,trying to find a sotckist in Ireland so i can try them out,but i will be in London in a few months if I cant find them here.

Which head would you suggest or do you use.I love my SWR but it breaks up when i have to crank it up.

I love my MarkBass gear, my basses have never sounded better! My Traveler 151P cab is super tight and punchy, and really projects the GROWLY tone of my Rays and P*******n well. The fact it is small and super light weight is just an added bonus.

Not sure of the power rating of your SWR, and without knowing what your power requirements are it would be difficult to advise, though I'm sure MarkBass will have something that will work for you.

I know quite a few people (like me) who are using the 500W@4ohm Little Mark II head, and it is more than enough power for the majority of gigging situations. I play in a band with 2 guitarists and a loud rock drummer, and can still be heard easily enough in rehearsals using the single 8ohm 15" with my amp pushing about 250W (though I definitely plan to add another 8ohm cab soon). As others have said, I just leave the EQ set flat and twiddle with the VLE and VPF knobs for an occasional sound tweak.

Definitely find a stockist in London and take them for a spin.

Another MarkBass query - I dunno if anyone from Markbass reads the forum but ...

I am very interested in the new Minimark (150W 2x 6" woofers) combo that Markbass announced last NAMM show. I called into the Bass Cellar a week ago and they are not sure when these will hit the UK, does anyone know when they will be shipped for UK sale?

thanks

Jim

I believe someone from MarkBass does read the forums on occasion Jim, but you'd probably be better off contacting them through their website. I did this on one occasion to acquire a manual for a discontinued amplifier and they got back to me right away with all the info (and a PDF copy of the manual) I needed. Very helpful.

Hey Jim

I emailed Peter (the rep) with this exact query :) When I spoke to him, they were due to be shipping about June-time. Pricewise, he couldn't be specific, but anticipated it being about 60% more expensive than the Micromark.

I'm really keen on the Mini too :)

Fantastic bits of kit. At practice I use the LM2 and traveller 2X10 cab. Our drummer drums using tree trunks but I still cut through. My gigging cab is a GK1001RB with 4X10 cab, but I reckon the MB could handle most situations.

I made the switch from a SWR Super Redhead to the markbass CMD 102P (the one on the left), and like it a lot. it puts out 400W, or 500W with an extension cab. And it is half the weight of the SWR.

Thanks Dave & Azz, I have emailed Markbass via their website. Not too long to wait if the Minimark gets released in June. :)

Hey Jim,
Sorry to get to this a bit slow. I'm over in Germany right now and not online as much.
The Minimark is expected June/July but there's no specific date that it will suddenly appear in stores... there are a lot of variables including the order schedules of the distributors, etc. And I've learned not to make specific guesses!
Feel free to touch base in a month or so for an update.
Cheers,
Peter

when will markbass hit hong kong :( I'm still waiting.

HK is 220/240v AC, right? If so, you should be able to buy a Markbass head from any dealer who will ship overseas (I assume since HK doesn't have a distributor yet, that dealers would be permitted to sell to HK buyers). The UK, Europe and Australia are all 220/240v AC, so all you'll need at your end is a standard IEC "Kettle" lead to suit HK power outlets and you'll be up and running, since the Markbass power leads are detachable from the unit itself.

i guess, i wonder if there are any dealers that would ship overseas.

You do a lot of wondering Ashiin. Start Googling and send some emails to dealers. As I said, if there is no Markbass dealer in Hong Kong, there is no reason a dealer from another country won't ship to you. The heads are so small and light anyway, that postage would be minimal - around the same cost as buying a book from Amazon.
