Thanks for the welcome to the forum, especially Big Poppa!

As I mentioned in my first post I just picked up my Markbass LMII a few days ago.
Originally I tried the CMD 102P combo and loved it.

I went against getting the combo because I thought it would be better for me to have a separate head and cab. I figured the Standard 102HF cab is closer to the combo in sound (none of the GCs around are carrying that cab yet so I'm not sure). I preferred the combo over the Traveler 102P solo.

Unfortunately the 102HF cab weighs more than the combo (about 50 lbs.). That is close to my absolute maximum to lift for my jams. If I also got the Traveler 102P I could take that cab for practice. But that's spending more money.

What do you all think? Take back the LMII and get the combo, which I absolutely love but have less flexibility or keep the LMII and get say the 102HF cab and a Traveler 102P?

Thanks for any suggestions!

id say keep the LMII
never get rid of equipment you like, cause you might regret it in the future, ive made that mistake before
but if you really like the combo more and it is not really a hassle to return equipment (the customer service at my GC is horrible, 2 hours t return an un opened pack of strings, OMG!!!).Just go with what you like best.

Thanks SeelsHH,

I'm already leaning towards keeping the head. Even though the GC guy told me I could exchange it I hate doing that on big purchases...

Chin ups, dips and squats. That 50lb will feel like a paperweight in no time, without spending any money.

Check and see if that cabinet is at any GC's in the country before you make your decision. I have been waiting 9 months for a new 410HF to be shipped from Italy. I just spoke with my local GC last week and supposedly the shipment has arrived at GC corporate. Maybe some 102HF's came too.

In your previous thread you mentioned being petite and now the 50 poulnd max....I would go for the lightest and then if it isnt enough there is always two of them if you get a second job!

Keep the head and get a light cab or two.

I play my basses through a LMK 2 and 2 Eden CX110's. It provides great flexibility and the cabs are light.

Many times I only use one cab with the head. I also use an Eden WTX-260 at times with the same cabs. Great tone!

The Little Mark is a great head! I only sold mine because I didn't need 2 amps!

Definitely a keeper!

I used the CMD102P and sack it on top of the Traveler 151P.

It makes a nice powerful little mini-stack. And for smaller gigs I can just take the CMD102P!

Very nice! And welcome to the forum!

I have the CMD102 and the Traveler102 - and love them! I also have the monster GK setup so it doesn't equal out but you will still have a ton of flexibility with the combo and it is light (the combo is lighter than my GK head in its rack) - but go with what you like.

I had a 102p combo for several months and it was very loud and with PA support, plenty good for a gig. I've since off'd it in favor of my SA450 and Acme 2x10. And I'm still light and portable! I'd say stick with the mini stack if that's what you like. Still one trip if you have the carrying case with shoulder strap for the LMII.

I'm a recent CMD 102P convert. So far mine's been one of the better small rigs I've used in 30years of gigging. I find lots of variation in the tones mixed with my new SR5 HH. Mine's a keeper.

+1 on that OldManM!!! Slap a 2x10 or a 15 under it and it just rumbles.

Markbass for another time?

Well, I took back the LMII for the CMD102P. I had traveled 20 or so miles because the GC I bought the LMII didn't have a new combo in a box. I took it home and it seemed to be a little noisy with the treble and volume up. I took it back the same day (today) and returned it and told them about it.

I had thought about getting the LMII head back but I decided to trade it for the Gallien Krueger 700RB-II. Thinking about it I do really love my GK head and maybe one day I'll be able to have both!

I still think highly of the sound of the Markbass, I just can't give up my GK just yet.:)

Use what works for you. I've got a Trace combo and extension speaker that sound very good, but weigh a ton... I haven't played out much at all in the last 5 years (due to starting a family,) so that weight hasn't been a problem lately :)

And, "Welcome!" of course...
