Sharon, where did you get your LMII? We have a brand new GC in Moosic (Poconos) and they do not carry MB. I may have to drive near Philly just to try one out.

Last weekend I tried a MarkBass F1, set totally flat, into an Amp*g SVT410-HLF cab. I was plesantly surprised with that head. But, I'm satisfied with my Eden rig so I'll hold off on Markbass. I saw a LMII but didn't get a chance to try it with any big cabs. I did try the CMD 102P combo, again set flat, but I was not impressed...I guess you really have to add a second cab to make it hit. It sounded very thin and mid-rangey. I guess I'm used to my Eden 210xst cab.

Just my thoughts. All my test were with a Stingray5 H set flat (typical horrible exmaple of badly maintained and abused Musicman at a GC store).

IMO the amps are much nicer than the cabs which seem maybe slightly overpriced, not trying to piss on anyones fire here I mean they are pretty expensive!

But their cabs are the opposite of what I look for, so really and truthfully... you need to go and try the bits out for yourself when putting out this type of dough.

I just did a tour in the UK and used a Markbass SD800 with the 6x10 cab. I have used this rig with many different basses including a Bongo 5, Sadowski 5, Fender P, Tune fretless 5 and can say it faithfully reproduces the sound of these great basses in many different venues. The Sd 800 is conservatvely rated at 800 watts and cuts thorugh with clarity and punch .It feels like there is always ample headroom especialy with the 6x 10 cab.
I also have owned Epifani and Phill Jones rigs and have decided to aquire a Markbass rig. With Guitar Centers return policy you can't go wrong.

Do you like the Ampeg cab with other heads? You might want to test the LMII with something else. I've owned the 410HLF and have since gotten something lighter and IMO better sounding. The 410HLF seems to me to be a cab that sounds great with an Ampeg head but not as good with other amps. YMMV.

I think the combo amps are fantasitic and think that thier cabs are so smooth and musical..if you are used to old swrs you wont like the MB cabs....Kind of like comapring a laser cutter with a skill saw

Big Poppa, Let me get this straight:

If we have a problem with our equipment you want us to:

1) PM you immediately
2) If no response from you we are to post our problem on 2 or more message boards including this one.
3) Contact customer service as a last resort.

Thanks!

Hi - sorry this took a coupla days - I got mine in Towson, MD. About a 45 minute drive for me, but a lot longer for you. The GC website has store phone numbers - well worth checking out what's in the store before making that kind of a drive!

Then again, you could PM Big Poppa to see if he knows which GC stores have Markbass in stock..........;)

(........i wouldn't recommend it....)

Yeah I checked it out and found out that Plymouth Meeting outside of Philly is probably the closest unless I find somewhere in NJ. I can get to parts of NJ in about 50 minutes.

Just don't want to drive for no reason. With sales like they are why would they not stock most if not all stores?

I was at the Plymouth Meeting Store on Black Friday. At the time they had at least one Little Mark II, a 102 combo, 121 combo, a Minimark, and a few cabs. Definitely call before you make the trip though.

Also, they can only make so many amps and cabs, its not possible to stock all of the stores at the same time. You can either ship one head to every store and have all stores constantly sold out, or have 30% of your stores well stocked.

I have had my 410 cabinet on order from GC for about 3 months now. I keep getting told they have not shipped any more from Italy yet. Just an FYI for anyone considering a 410 cabinet.

I don't know which 4x10 you ordered, but I strongly suggest you cancel and start calling around to other guitar centers. I think whoever you are dealing with does not know of what he speaks. I have seen a 4x10 in at least half a dozen different GC's over the last 3 months. Including the one closest to me in Arlington Heights, IL. Unless you are looking for the CL line, I think you should have no problem picking one up. Plus your GC should be able to get one relocated from another store if you don't want to spend your time calling.

Don't wait, call today!

Kris,

No...at the moment I'm all Eden (cabs and heads). But lemme tell that F1 impressed my with the Amp*g 410. Still though, Amp*g cabs just don't do it for me anymore. I used an Amp*g 410 for about 10 years before going to Eden.

(Can I type A M P E G without the asterik and have it come up in a post? I haven't been here for a long while.)
