No, no ...
It was a big show (Zenith of Paris). The 4x12s you see onstage are just there for hiding the backstage. There is just one miced 4x12 in an isolation booth.
Of course, JP uses a very big rack with several head.

Yeah same as Lamb of god. mark has 9 (yes 9) 4x12 mesa cab but only one of them is being used.

Most of the professional musicians use in-ear monitor, thus they don't need to have cabinets on stage.
Some old-school players like Steve Morse still use cabs but they are fewer and fewer ...

Hi Tim

I have demo'd the 4 and 2 channel heads and would definately go for the 4 channel - with the midi switching it gives you so many more sounds. It does look like the USS enterprise, but it's pretty easy to get to grips with.

I think I must have started this thread a while ago - I was in an amp wilderness as one of my beloved Line 6's went wrong.

I decided in the end to get the Duoverb fixed, and buy a couple more. I could not be happier and have put up with the weight of the combo.

I hope this thread has helped some people who were looking into this kind of amp!

Hey, i know that you said you were goin to fix your DuoVerb, I am a Vetta II combo user btw. Anyhow, from your specs I would give the Carvin V3 a shot. Its cheaper in price than any of them and has the specs you want. Then instead of using the footswitch you could use something like the M13 or a multieffects unit, because the V3 has midi. I don't own the amp, this is merely being a fan of the amp and based off of your specs. Either way, if the DuoVerb works for you, thats awesome as well.

I was going to suggest trying to get that Silver Jubilee off of Spud, but repairs work too. :D
Hee Hee! - that little beaut is going nowhere - they even have one in the Marshall "Museum" - I saw it when I had a factory tour - it had never been played.

I reckon the Silver Jub will become a real collectors piece so if ya see one my advice is to snap it up.

I love the 25 watt switch on it - I just regret that when I bought it, I was strapped for cash and couldn't afford a 2 x12.

Oh did I mention that Jim Marshall signed it for me too :D

Yeah- I found the Laney TT50 to feel quite "stiff". Not very smooth. Loud though. The high gain sounds were epic, but it wasnt the versatile do it all amp I expected.

I had the head- your mileage may very, depending on which cab you choose to lug around. I remember the combo getting rave reviews in the guitar press here in the UK.

I am confused. The OP said that he cannot afford the Mesa so he is going with the Marshall. Are we talking about the JVM or the JCM??? The JCM is certainly more affordable than the 2k + Mesa stuff, but the JVM is in that ballpark.

Someone straigten me out! (and also let me know where I can buy a Mark V before I pull the trigger on a Roadster)

Hendog - the OP (Tim O'Sullivan) is located in the UK; Marshalls are less expensive than Mesa/Boogies on that side of the Atlantic. Over here, they are pretty close in price.

Sorry, I don't know who has a Mark V in stock as I've yet to see one anywhere around here (well, there isn't a dealer here in Lousville any more but Willcutt's in Lexington is and they haven't gotten in a Mark V yet).

Boogies are very expensive on this side of the Atlantic - A Boogie Dual Recto head is $3500 here!
