Paul Young - Everytime You Go Away [Bass Cover] - YouTube

Great story in progress.

Killer Chops - MusicMan Player. All of her clips are MusicMan Ray 5, the new one is a 2 Band Fretless.

She's posted a number of YOUTUBE Vids doing Jamiroquai Covers

From her FB page:

"Jamiroquai saw my YouTube vids and asked me if I wanted to join them in their shows in Chile, Peru and Venezuela for 10 days. Unbelievable! Definitely a dream come true :)"

Great Story. She gets the idiotic "I Love You" - "Marry Me" posts on her FB and Youtube pages. Guys are idiots..like this ever works? Yes she looks like Sandra Bullock but boy, no wonder females stay away from the forums.

Anyhow..it's going to be great following her progress...someone big will ask her to play in their band, again, me thinks.

Yes, I have several of her Jamiroquai cover videos favorited. What an incredible feel and groove she has. And when you watch her face, you can see those Jamiroquai lines are effortless for her. She's sometimes even singing along with Jay Kay... all the while grooving that bass line. At twenty years of age, she outplays me. And I've been playing for 35 years now. There are certain things/styles I haven't seen her do yet, but I have no doubt she can do them. The first time I saw her videos, I knew she was going places, musically speaking. What a talent.

thanks for sharing that, another person more than 20 years younger than me that has more talent than I will ever achieve, and that's meant as a compliment, not a whine.

Man, she's got more chops in one song that I do in my whole vocabulary. If she's not out on tour with someone now, she will be soon. That's some serious talent.

Holy crow! Man...that is killer. Her playing is so clean and I love that she looks like she's having fun and really enjoying the song and the super cool licks. Thanks for posting!! Very inspiring!

I think she's only been playing a couple of years too.

I read that somewhere, too. I wonder if she's had extensive training through her childhood on other instruments? It seems likely to me because she seems so "musically mature" in her playing. But, who knows... sometimes a person just picks up an instrument and immediately plays it as if they've been doing it for 50 years.

That's some badass playing. After judging young artist concerto competitions for piano and violin though... you get used to seeing 13 and 14 year olds playing music that many won't touch until grad school, if ever.

Anyway, she's got a really great sound and great groove. I am trying to watch now to see whether she's using 2 fingers to play or three, like Sheehan. At least her sound is better than Sheehan (BLARGHOO)

Now the question is, how much of the bass sound we hear is her, and how much is the original? Jamiroquai has always had top notch bass players with an excellent sense of style.

Nice to see a lady playing a ray, for some reason a lot of the ladies seem to gravitate to the Jazz.

As for her playing, I have never tried fretless, have always liked the sound, but its not my thing, Im a simple rock it out with my pick, put my head and pray I survive type of guy, but fair play to Marta she has a great sound, great chops, great feel and she really looks like she is loving her playing, very talented.

There are a lot of play along vids on youtube that tend to leave me cold or go "ok but what can you do," but not in this instance, I think we will be seeing and hearing a lot more.

Incredible playing. I'm not a bass player but I love tasty bass playing and she definitely pulls it off well.
