It makes me very angry that I own two Bongos, and wasn't given the opportunity to own one in the coolest color for a Bongo, ever. It's just not right.

I'd order a single 'bucker tomorrow if I could get it in the Logan Olive green.

We all wanted to keep Martini Olive as a production run, but we did not recieve one order for that color at NAMM! Every dealer loved the color, but then said, "green doesn't sell too well in our store". We chose Envy Green as the last Limited Edition because we don't offer any green finishes, and also becuase it was so darn purdy.

Yeah, but what do dealers know?!? :D

You couldn't keep one bucket of logan green around Ye Olde Bongo Shoppe?

You make a Monkeee sad. Of course, my Bongos keep me as happy as possible. And, since I couldn't live in the box of a third Bongo at the moment, it's probably best that it's not an option at the time being... ;)

Bleeb me, Jason, Scott and I have talked about this green Bongo concept quite a bit, and if there had been enough paint available for JUST ONE MORE, I would have crawled on my hands and knees from Texas to SLO to pick it up personally.

Oh, how I begged. Oh, how I bothered Derek and Jon. Little did I know that SOMEONE, and I'm not saying who because he uses the bass as his ICON so I don't have to say who, had already figured out what we knew - that was one cool freakin' color.

Ah well.

Hey Scott, did you see this? I was afraid it would get lost in the threads and you got a mention here:

Dealers, even good ones can be one way on some things. I can get a Bongo if I order it. Me being me. I want one on the dealer's shelf . As you know from a previous thread.

That is a color, that will sell out. I will buy one, maybe not a Bongo cuz I haven't played one yet, but you put that on a SR 5 I will suffer even through a divorce to get one.

Well, it must be a funny balancing act, to be a bass dealer and to try to understand what it is that we will actually buy.

The dealer of the future will be guys like Doug, who listen to people like us and respond to what we like. Steve Dude Barr would be another excellent retailer, because, like Doug, he is a bassist and he knows how the internet can be used to his advantage.

Makes you wonder how much business Bass Central does on a walk-in basis versus internet generated traffic. I'd be willing to bet that they make more money off internet referrals.

Let's face it, though, too many dealers (not MM dealers, of course, but ALL dealers) are first, not bassists, and second, don't pay attention to little groups like this. While we may not represent the majority of the vast bass playing public, we do offer up an interesting representative sampling of the various kinds of bassists one might reasonably expect to find simply anywhere.

You also have to salute the business savvy of the EBMM guys. Sure, this is fun, and we all get to learn something on a nearly daily basis, but guys like Scott and Derek and Jon get instant customer feedback from people.

Sometimes they even KNOW the person in question. Some feedback is, of course, a little squirrely because you can sometimes be unsure whether or not the person knows enough to understand a given "problem". But here, the guys from EBMM get to know us and judge our particular knowledge, and that makes it much easier to separate the wheat from the chaff, as they say.

How valuable is that?

Anyway, all this by way of saying that the dealers who didn't order the Martini Olive Bongos were insane.

Jack,

The latest Bongo ad is really cool. My dad asked me if I had seen it, then asked if you were an artist. Pretty funny.

Yikes, I never think about him seeing this stuff.

But tell him yes, yes, I am in fact an artist, which I think qualifies me for the year-end bonus that the other Forum Moderators can't even hope for.

"A Dargin Publication" - I bet he liked that!

I just checked the dictionary on "year end bonus" and it says this:

Year End Bonus - n. pl. bo·nus·es

1. Something given or paid in addition to what is usual or expected.
2. A sum of money or a Martini Olive Green Bongo given to an employee or Forum Moderator in addition to the employee's usual (or unusual) compensation.
3. A sum of money or excellent bass instrument in addition to salary that is given to an amateur artist for signing up with a team or musical production company.

It's a Bombay Sapphire evening here in Texas, Scott-san! How are YOU doing?

The evening is very relaxing. You got me considering a Grey Goose martini after that beverage comment you made....

Ah, the Goose rules. I do like that stuff. Dollar for dollar, though, I find it's hard to beat Finlandia. I also really like Stolichnaya.

In Jamaica, long ago, I had some vodka which absolutely scared me, it was so good. I wish I could remember now what it was called.....at the time, I remember thinking it was the Russian word for "island", should anyone here recall what that might be.

It went down like water! Only really super powerful scary water!

I believe I had a mock swordfight with a small Nordic child during the vodka drinking, and his mother was very hot, but that is another story altogether.

In any case - cheers, Scott.

Heh....This thread is pretty chock full of some Nostradamus-ian statements, and as such is brought back from the dead.

From Bassplyr's "How about "Dargin Green" for the next L.E. color?"

to the year end bonus of a Logan green Bongo. Spooky, really.

And, it's funny to read back when Jack was simply scared by BP knowing of his existence. My, how times change....

I'm dying for a Dargie's Delight update.....
