I just sold a Tonelab SE I bought last sunday. I will agree it sounds good but I found myself just trying to emulate the setup I already had. I use a Carvin Bel Air with a Analogman modded Boss DD-6 in the loop and a bad horsie in front. The Bel Air has some mods done to it and it gets about every sound I need. The Tonelab just didnt get it for me all the way. I was hopeing it would have sounded better that I would have bought the Carvin TS100 stereo tube power amp. This amp has the option of having EL34 on one half and 6L6s on the other. I think that would really work well with modelers since I think there best sounds are in stereo. Oh well just some thoughts from one who doesnt know better.

Well for those of us who can't afford a tube amp, or for those who can't play tube amps cranked, or even for those who don't know which tube amp to purchase or which effects, the tonelab is a very versatile weapon. I agree if someone has their tone set up, a simple tube and a wah, there;s no need. Funny thing is I used to be (well still am) an effects whore, but lately, and because of the tonelabs remarkable tone emulation, I find myself simply using the tones of the amps, their Gain or simple cleans. I've had the unit for about a month, and I think I have only played with one or two amps, I believe I'll still be finding tones for it on the day I pass :D
 
I like effects too that was why I bought it only problem is when I play with someone all I ever seem to use are the reverb, delay and wah. I can spend days tweaking and trying out different effects though. You know hitting the smae chord over and over again trying out different setups in multi effect units.

I wish they made (well maybe they do) an effects processer one with only effects no amp models and second two seperate sets of outputs one for effects before the amp and one set for effects going through the amps effects loop. I like effects but dont use them enough to justify buying so many seperate stomp boxes. Oh well just some thoughts from one who does not know better.
