Hi chaps

The UK apparently have a few Matching Headstock Rays, in White/Rosewood/Single H format.

I originally ordered the plain headstock, and they are awaiting delivery etc.

Thats no problem, but Ive been offered a great price for a matching headstock, and I havent owned one yet!

What do you think?

It would be White/White Plate/Rosewood/Single H/3EQ/White Headstock.

Worth the luxury ? ;)

White is one of my favourite colours, and until this year I never had a white EBMM. Now I have the Ray 5 HS, and two others coming!

Any close up pics of White Ray matching headstocks? Just to tempt me...

Alas, Ive flirted with maple many times before, but rosewood is king for my playing. I like the dark contrast, it looks great :)

Maybe it is me, but I very definitely prefer matching headstocks with a rosewood fretboard. And I totally agree with you, the contrast of a rosewood board, especially with white + rosewood and a matching HS is one of the nicest looking basses made by Music Man.

IMO, MHS on Rosewood/Pau Ferro/Ebony boards...Non-MHS on Maple boards.

I semi-agree with this... I like MHS & Maple boards if the color is dark, like my SR5, which is black. Rosewood looks great with MHS if it's a light color, like white. I've seen white, MHS, maple basses, and they look okay... definitely way better than black, HMS, rosewood. If the headstock is going to match, there should definitely be contrast with the fingerboard, IMO.

I'd go for a matching headstock regardless of the color. I'm not a fan at all of their non matching headstocks, it just makes the guitar incomplete, and cheaper.

Finished headstocks are kind of like the frosting on the cake. Cake is good. Cake with no frosting, though, is less good than cake with frosting. That said, you got to pay extra for the FREAKIN frosting. sorry, got a bit testy there, I'm done now.

By the way, that white Ray.....oooooeeeee. that's one tasty piece of cake.
