I was at a GC today and played a several Stingrays - HH rosewood, H rosewood, SR5 maple, and a 30th. The one that stood out of course was the 30th. It made me miss playing a 4 real bad. I have been playing a SUB5 for about 9 months. This Is my first 5er and it has been a definite challenge. I have had good weeks and bad weeks with that extra string. What scared me happened a few weeks ago. I had a 3 week layoff from playing. When I went to play with one of the groups (church gig) it was like I went backwards several months - missing notes and getting lost on what string I'm on. This Sunday it happened again, but not as bad. When I was playing that 30th today I was amazing myself what I could pulloff. Now I am starting to question if I should stay with a 5er or not. I don't get to practice much due to a heavy travel schedule. Also the small amp(10" 100watt combo) I use can sound a bit thin with a 5. With the price drop of the 30th almost the same as fancy stingray its tempting to unload the the 5 , live with the cheesy amp and score that crimson beauty before its gone.
