I was at a GC today and played a several Stingrays - HH rosewood, H rosewood, SR5 maple, and a 30th. The one that stood out of course was the 30th. It made me miss playing a 4 real bad. I have been playing a SUB5 for about 9 months. This Is my first 5er and it has been a definite challenge. I have had good weeks and bad weeks with that extra string. What scared me happened a few weeks ago. I had a 3 week layoff from playing. When I went to play with one of the groups (church gig) it was like I went backwards several months - missing notes and getting lost on what string I'm on. This Sunday it happened again, but not as bad. When I was playing that 30th today I was amazing myself what I could pulloff. Now I am starting to question if I should stay with a 5er or not. I don't get to practice much due to a heavy travel schedule. Also the small amp(10" 100watt combo) I use can sound a bit thin with a 5. With the price drop of the 30th almost the same as fancy stingray its tempting to unload the the 5 , live with the cheesy amp and score that crimson beauty before its gone.

The 30th is the best Stingray ever made, according to BP. I haven't played as many Stingrays as BP, but it's the best I've owned. Do it.

The 30th is an amazing bass. I love the tone of the mahogany body...I wish I could have more of them made with mahogany.

I have a similar problem and after trying for almost ten years to wrap my head around that fifth string, which worked quite well at home an in rehearsals, but failed every now and then at a gig, I gave in to my limited abilities... and went back to a StingRay 4.

If you can afford to get one, and don't bother the gloss finish on the neck, go for it!!!

no there were a limited number but people bounce around alot with all of the choices we have. The GC ones make me sad because the guys really just buried them and now they are dumping one. If you have any desire for the best we have ever made go to guitar center grind the daylights out of the saleman and take advantage of no interest for 18 months......you can make a killing now

Go for the 30th, you can't go wrong. I don't have a 5er now, but when I did in the past, the low B made a great thumb rest which is all I ever used it for.

I'm with everyone else. Go for the 30th. I paid a lot more than they're going for now and it was worth every penny.

Hey, there fellow flatlander. There used to be a couple 30th Anniversay 'rays haning on the wall at the Fresno GC, but I didn't see them the last time I was in there. Which GC did you go to?

I've owned a rosewood/2-band stingray, a maple/HH 'ray, and now a 30th Anniversay. Both of the other 'rays were great instruments, but the 30th is really something special. I don't see how you could regret owning one, so I say go for it.

Buying the 30th Anni is the way to go.

You can always buy an SR5, down the road.

But the 30th, here today, gone tomorrow.
Buy the 30th, buy the 30th, buy...

Besides, Tiffles said to buy the 30th. There is no arguing with Tiffles.
You must buy the 30th :D
