So,

I'm in a postion that I'm sure many of you are familiar with.
My 'Number of guitars to cash flow ratio' has gone a bit awry.

It's a temporary problem. The wife is on maternity leave, regrettably the mortgage repayments aren't.

So I could put on my best S**t eating grin and go and see Mr Bank Manager.

Or I could be pragmatic about not really needing 3 Ernie Balls at the minute as whilst they look lovely lined up I'm not really using them.

The only way you're ever going to get my Axis off of me is by prising it from my lifeless fingers, and you all know what I paid Wolfbone for the Silhouette Special so I can't in all conscience go charging over the odds to fellow forumites for it so it looks like the crosshairs are lining up on my 94 Albert Lee.

Here's the lowdown.

I bought it used less than a year ago from Macari's in the West End.

I paid £675 for it used which on reflection was a bit steep.

It is definitely a used guitar. The oiled neck is looking a bit dirty

At the moment it's got Rio Grande pickups in it which I'd like to keep as they were a gift from my wife in more affluent times.

I could either put the Dimarrzio pickups from the Silhouette in it. Or I may be able to convince the guy that I sold my Mexican Strat loaded with the Seymours out of the Albert to swap those out for the Dimarzios and put the Seymours back into it.

It's got a Cream and Brown G&G case.

I'll try and get some pictures of it up om Tuesday.

So any of you U.K. forumites interested at £500 ?

If not I'll go smile sweetly at the bank manager.

Hi Dr Bob

I'm no use to you on the buying the AL front I'm afraid (but good luck with that), but it sounds like the Purple Silo has made it's way over the Atlantic?

If so we need more pictures!!!:D

Thanks to all of you for your responses.

Smelly,

I'll bring the guitar into work tomorrow and use the camera here as my own Canon is still languishing in the repair department at Canon U.K.

Tim,

Wow I'm amazed to see turn up, I had you pegged as an EVH/Axis only guy, but thanks for the interest.

As to cost 'empty' err not sure the thing is I'll still have a set of pickups to sell once the Silhouette arrives (Sorry Bungo it's still on route from Wolfbones' Florida mansion to my Guitar Mule Darrens house in Bethlehem, so it's still a while off of fetching up on these shores). because whichever single coil guitar I keep will end up loaded with the Rio Grande's.

I'd imagine the absolute most I'm likely to get for a set of 3 used Dimarzio s/c's out of context of a guitar is going to be £100 so probably £400 for the guitar. That does of course have the virtue of meaning the deal can be done sooner rather than waiting for the Silhouette to land.

But the follow on question would be,

Anyone want to buy a set of Dimarzio s/c's out of a Silo Spec ?

Kompressaur, thanks for getting in touch, I'll keep you in mind.

I'll just finish for now by saying that it's not a definite. I'm still trying to find a way to keep hold of all the Balls (so how much is this kidney worth ?) But thans to all of you for the interest shown I'll keep you up to date as the week porgresses.
