Probably a bunch in a box somewhere will be found after the apocalypse and people will wonder what they are...

Peace,

Mute Pads Arrived

I have some unopened MM mute kits here if you're interested

Thanks, Colin, for the global shipping of these rare mute kits. New packaging dates back to 1995!! They installed very easily on my Sterling fretless. Excellent forumification.

Anybody have any tips for setting these up, sounds to go for, etc.?

What I don't get when reading about the time line of bridges in the Music Man.org site...is
What's the deal with this supposed "hand injury" with the muted bridge? My '94 has a "Flea" bridge and I've never hurt myself while playing this bass in the last 15 years.
Who hurt themselves...and how???

From the site:
"Circa 1993 to 1996 ("Trans" Bridge)

Two styles exist:

Type 1:

Same as for Circa 1992 to circa 1994 ("Flea" Bridge) but:

Mute assembly removed completely and 4 hex bolts placed in the holes previously occupied by the mute thumb screws.

It was decided to remove the mute assembly to prevent hand injury."

Hey!

Someone offered me a 3-Band-EQ Stingray for a good price, but now I have a maybe stupid question about the mute-pads. He sent me some pics and there are screws in the bridge instead of the mute-pads. I asked him about that and he told me that he is the original first owner had bought the Ray like that in 1996. Is the bridge like that original or did someone remove the pads? I can´t imagine that the Ray came like this out of the factory.

Thank You for any information and SORRY for my horrible english:)

Greetings from Germany

Yup that was the transition part of the bridges going mute less, so until the new ones we're made they just put screws in the holes.

I bought a set of the string mutes from colin for $60 USD. Installed perfectly and easily and worked great. But I've since sold the 1997 Sterling I put them on -- and can offer this authentic rare Mute Kit for resale. $40 shipped. PM me.
