Kevin,
Thanks. I've been really busy with work and school this past week and haven't had a lot of time to post.
I'm really thrilled and honored to have the guitar, it means a lot to me. I didn't want to make a big fuss about it, but when I saw the link for the auction I set my mind to the fact that I was going to get that guitar. I asked Michael's sister if she had seen the posting about the auction and she wrote back "I did – thanks. I hope it finds a good home where it is played often. I will be walking in the Relay for Life in NY next weekend"
I simply wrote back "me too"... I called Pete a few days after the auction started to gauge interest in the guitar and told him of my intentions. I was willing to go 2 - 2.5K if that's what it took to get the guitar. I had talked to my wife and told her about it and she said to go for it and "Happy 50th Birthday"... a bit early but hey, I'll take it.
Michael's sister was watching the auction and I got an email about a minute after it ended, she knew I got it and was happy for me.
So like I said this one stays in the family and I'll accept my membership into the ALOC carrying a very special guitar.
Michael's nephew, his sister's son, has the Envy Green AL. They live about 20 minutes from me. A few months before Michael passed away he contacted me and told me what he was doing with his guitars and asked if I knew of any good luthier's in the Baltimore area in case he had any problems with it. I told him not to worry that if he had any problems, other than something really major I would take care of it for him. So two of Michael's guitars landed about 20 miles apart.
