Starting from www.stevemorse.com, click on "links" at the bottom of the left column, and then click on "Steve Morse/Dixie Dregs Tribute site" under the "tribute sites" heading. That will take you to a site run by a guy named Heath, and there are scads of tabs for SMB and the Dregs there. Not all of them are complete, and some of them aren't completely correct (although the contributors have done a really nice job, imo) but it's a great resource. I'm pretty sure all of "tumeni notes" is there.

great playing by the way, Roub. I've been working on those for quite awhile as well...another really nice picking practice exercise is the intro to "User Friendly" - you may be interested to check it out...

Yea I actually know about that website Sean, but I havent been there for a while. When I was there before, I was never able to open that tabs and the site never worked that great. Maybe they fixed it? i'll check it out. And User Friendly is an amazing piece and hsould be fun to learn. I mostly practice scales and arpeggios with alternate picking and then develope some interesting patterns and than improvise and such. I have never really learned A LOT of full songs, but I want to start doing that. I have to finish Stressfest first and than I'll, find more things to learn and stick with a schedule of learning pieces.

Thanks guys! :) ALTERNATE PICKING RULES!!!!!!

My next attempt will be to learn Glassgow Kiss by Mr. Petrucci :D. I got the opening riff down, which is quite hard to do properly as is anything by him and Mr. Morse :D.

You might try to print out the ascii files- they worked OK for me.

I hear ya... I've been struggling with that intro myself... I keep going back and forth trying to decide 3 fingers or 4??!?!?! Just when I think I have it, I wonder how about if I try this instead... it's a cool workout.

What I'd like to get is a nice background track to practice with.

Sean, you're right, tha ascii format DOES work. That means I shall be learning a lot of Morse during the summer and spring break :D.

fsmith, what do you mean "trying to decide 3 fingers or 4"? You mean the opening arpeggio that goes a 4th between the 2nd and 3rd notes of it? If that's what you mean I ALSO was using my pinky to play that, but then I saw Petrucci play it and he uses his ring finger to play both notes with a "roll" motion. Anyway, just try playing along with the Album itself, but try and practice it FASTER than it is supposed to be. I usually play stuff faster than it is and than it is easier to play it at origianl tempo, unless it is something CRAZY like Tumeni Notes.

Strummer, thanks for compliment :). And yea, the out of sync REALLY pissed me off. I dont know why they F'ed it up on YouTube. I guess that's what you get for trying to "expose yourself" or whatever they say online for FREE lol.

Yep that's the part. I've tried both rolling with the ring finger and using the pinky.
It gets a little cramped using the pinky but it seems to flow better when coming back up the arp to the beginning. Although when going back up I use the second and ring finger, the stretch using those fingers from the start feels too weird. I might just have to try stretching more and then going at it.

I love trying to dissect some of the moves that Petrucci and Morse do. It gives me a whole new appreciation for just how incredible they are.

I've been using the Amazing Slow Downer program so that I can isolate various sections to practice with. I have a Tascam CDGT-1 but since I got the ASD I haven't turned it on. It's much easier to set up my loops with ASD than the Tascam.

Yea that's cool man. It basically comes down to what feels comfortable for YOU, because after all like Morse and Petrucci and others say is that you cant sound exactly like them either way. It's all about practice practice practice if one wants to be able to play like these guys. Man, now I wish I was home practicing and not at this boring job in the office :(. BUT it pays pretty decent and pays for my Balls :D!

Don't you know it!!! I'll never have the phrasing of those guys. I'm not concerned with mimicing them note for note. I've discovered other ways to play some of those parts and that's actually more satisfying to me to figure it out differently but still have it sound about the same. Put my own little spin on things.

Yeah talking about it makes me want to go home right now and grab one and diddle. But you're right the job allows me to buy the good stuff.

Wow. Cool. Do you have a tab of Glasgow Kiss? Where did you get it?

Great playing by the way.

I use amazing slow downer! Its such a cool tool. My band are doing damage control and by using ASD ive pretty much got it nailed. Hopefully we're going to make a recording of Erotomania sometime soon as well. My playing really has improved by using ASD. You can really here those little notes and phrases that can pass you by at normal speed. YOu can get a free version of it as well.
