Does anyone have one of these? I have been on Mesa's website and it not clear if it is celestion vintage 30. They say V30, but dont say Celestion. They have other speakers listed as V30 as well?

Thanks.

Hey AS,

Yeah, I don't know of any other V30 that Mesa Boogie uses other than the Celestion, at least in their 12" guitar speakers. I live near their factory and have also been there a few times on site, don't recall anything else?. Great amp and speaker!!!!!!

Thanks for the response. I think they are Celestions as well, but pulled the below off their site. It shows the Fillmore as V30 as well. One clue is the cabinet does say it is 60 watts and the Fillmore is 70?

12" Fillmore V30 . 70 Watt . 8 Ohm (Guitar)
12" Fillmore V30 . 70 Watt . 16 Ohm (Guitar)
12" Celestion C90 . 90 Watt . 8 Ohm (Guitar)
12" Celestion C90 . 90 Watt . 16 Ohm (Guitar)
12" Celestion V30 . 60 Watt . 8 Ohm (Guitar)
12" Celestion V30 . 60 Watt . 16 Ohm (Guitar)

AS,

Is that on the 2X12 cab, Or the 1X12? I have the 2X12 (140w). Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't the Celestion v30 a 70w speaker ) i.e., 280 w in 4X12 configuration??

TNT,

This is just a listing of the speakers they offer. The cabinet I am looking at is the 1x12. Now that you say it I think the Celestion V30 is 70 watts.

Yeah, on my 2X12 Mesa cab (Celestion v30's) it says 140w on the back plate. That 1X12 cab I bet would be "dynamite"!! The cabinets are so well made, that combined with a Celestion v30; like a BMW that lasts forwever - love em'!

Cel V30's are 60 watts. Not familiar with their 70 watt speaker.

I had a Mesa cab with their 90 watt custom Cel. speaker (Black Widow, I think?). Little on the dark side but very nice sounding. Sounds nothing like the V30, imo.

I just called Mesa for verification. The only thing that was confusing me was the Fillmore V30 they have listed on their site. CS said that is a speaker they are working on. Just like the last poster said, it is loaded with Celestion Vintage 30.

I bought a brand new one still in the box off of the bay, because it was such a good deal. I wanted the vintage 30 and took a chance. I did not want the deal to get away.

It will be here on Wed. cant wait to try it out.

It's funny but the Celestions V30 seems to be both a 60w speaker and a 70w speaker at the same time. Maybe someone can clarify this???

On my older 4X12 Marshall Cab with four v30 Celestion speakers the plate says (280w). obviously 70w times 4.

On my Mesa Boogie 2x12 cab with same speakers it says (140w) i.e., 2 times 70w.

Have the watt ratings changed on the Celestion V30's latley?? Are they now 60w??

Unless the wooden cab, amount of speakers, ohm, etc. . plays a role in watt rating??? Who out there knows knows???? Maybe I'll start a thread on this.

My son's Marshall quad cab is loaded with V30's and it's rated for 280 watts. I've read that the Cel. V30's in their cabs are not the same V30 as sold elsewhere. I guess the same is true for Mesa. Maybe they add extra dope to the cone or something which bumps the rating. Some say they sound different that regular V30's, but the Marshall cab with V30's I played through recently sounds like all V30's I've heard.
