Anyone have experience with one of these? I've been interested in them for a while, it's just that they are so expensive....Are they worth the price tag?
I had a triaxis for 8 years and thought it was great. I used it with their 2:90 amp which is perfect for it. I now use a Deizel head, that is the reason I got rid of the triaxis. The triaxis is very versatile and that is a plus if you need many styles. It is slightly noisy and compressed sounding. But, you can get a lot of different, and good, tones from it. If you take the time with it and actually spend some time trying the 8 different modes it can be quite a nice preamp. I don't know how it compares to newer preamps, since I haven't tried any newer stuff. You might find things cheaper that work as well if technolgy has caught up with it. I don't believe it has been updated in a while, maybe a classic doesn't need to be. This may not help much, but remember this is so subjective. There are so many people who love the Mesa sound, and as many who don't. Plus a lot of it is you, your guitar, fx, etc.
I've alway's been a bigger fan of Marshall over Boogie (I play a JCM900 head with 1960AX cab w/ greenbacks) , but I do like the Boogie sound for certain things. I have a Pod Pro, which gives me some nice tones, but I'm looking to expand my possibilities for tones...
