Wow, thanks for the help fellas. I guess in an ideal world (or with an ideal bank balance!) I'm looking at some sort of multi amp set up. I like the idea that the lonestar would give me Eric Johnson type warm tones, but I doubt it'd give me anything close to JP's tone because of that. But then again, I ain't JP and I am looking for my own voice. But thanks for all the advice. I'll try it out when it comes in and see how it feels.

the roadster has lonestar cleans and the best of rectifier crunch/lead. jp uses recs on and off. that one amp very well might be your answer. try it.

As someone said, you'll never get agreement, but I recently demo'ed a JVM 205 50w head against a second hand Mk IV, and the JVM blew it away in every department.

Here'a a video I found with a cool UK dude playing a Silo Special into a JVM 410 100w head.....

Don't sell the Lonestar short. There are MANY JP tones. The Lonestar can get a good share of them. Put a decent OD in front and you'll never need more gain.

You hardly even feel the need for more gain for those sustaining lead tones. Incredible amp.

True. I don't use an OD with mine. It has plenty of gain for any Petrucci stuff. With a closed cab, you'd be right there.
