Have used either an SVT or Mark LMII with my Ray for years.

Just bought a Mesa Walkabout which is a 13 lb, 300watt, amp with a tube pre, and a tube to drive the MOSFET output stage.
The Mesa is my new favorite amp in that it has the warmth, growl, and touch sensitivity / compression of the SVT but can also add the clarity of the LMII.

Give one a try if you get a chance.
BTW, the 600 watt Mesa M-Pulse looks like the same amp only more powerful; I did not find the tone quality to be as sweet.

Jim, I gotta agree that an EB MM and a Mesa make a great combo.

Funny you should mention the LMII and the Walkabout. Those are two amps I have.

their support people were rad tho. they called me on a saturday after i left a message and said they'd have a new one for me the following thursday... but i had a gig tuesday.

given their good support id have no problem buying their stuff

+1 on the Mesa and Musicman combo!

I have the MPulse 600. Haven't had any issues. Only complaint is that it took me a while to get my sound dialled in, but now that it's there it's great. There are a lot of controls if you involve the eq, butw just the tube pre on its own is very nice and warm and punchy.
Never had an overheating issue to speak of.

Have heard about this amazing first class service before.
Seems like the factory takes it personally when something goes wrong and wants to fix it instantly on their dime when under warranty
Of course, top shelf design, fabrication, and service does not come cheap as this 300 watt amp sells for $1,100 at GC.

I've been a Mesa player since '91, love the amps, have the same 400 still as my main player amp all these years.
I had a Walkabout and it was a killer sounding lil' head. I sold it a few months ago to help buy a newer car for the wife, but you are right, that head had a tubey quality to it and soooooo rich in tone. I'll probably buy another soon enough.
But yeah, a StingRay through a Mesa is such a lethal combo.

I think every company will have a story like that we're only human, I've Used Mesa Amps for years along with GK, MarkBass, Ampeg, etc. They all have good and bad points, I think it changes for us all from time to time. At 52 I no longer want to carry my 69 SVT even though it's probably the best sounding amp ever it's just too dang heavy.

My MarkBass Amps Sound incredible. The older GK Amps before they bought Korean Pots etc sounded good and Never broke down, Great for road use.

Wow, I was just considering the same bass combo!

I'm tired of amp-head/box non-stop moving and connecting etc., ...so I'm looking for a decent powerful compact bass combo!
I was recently at my EBMM dealer and spotted this Mesa Walkabout "thing"..., it's a killer, as soon as possible I must have one!

Please write a short review, or something, I'm very interesting for Mesa/Music Man combo!

Oh, ...I see!

But Walkabout combo have an option to pull out just amp head which could be used separately with another bass cab!
So, we're still talkin' about the same amp/head, well, I suppose so?

I'm with Caca on this one. I picked up a Mesa 400 about 6 or 7 months back and love it with my SR. In fact, Caca helped me troubleshoot a problem that my tech couldn't find and now the amp kills. I pump it through a pair of Ampeg 15s and can't say enough about how much it brings out that signature SR sound.

I too use an M-Pulse 600 EBMM combo and love it. Gives me a nice fat tone.

I mounted the rubber feet to the side and rotated the grille so the cab could be flipped on its side stacked on top of the other quad without having to remove the wheels... not being lazy to remove the wheels, its just that it gets frustrating when a single wheel disappears into thin air and you're trying to roll these things around like a tricycle.

Would love to take my rig on international tour but to keep costs to a minimum event organizers usually supply me with their in house or festival backline so dialing up my tone on different rigs can get a little tiresome but i've learnt to adapt to the situation.

Have an m6 carbine as well. I absolutely love it. Match made in heaven with my EBMM's.

actually had 3 amps, and sold them all except the mesa.

A Ernie Ball throughv a Mesa sounds huge, One set up that I like to use is a Stringray through a M6 Carbine into a Mesa 1x15.
