Mesa Stiletto Ace and TB BFR demo on YouTube!

I thought i'd demo these two great pieces of gear for those interested in either one. I was using my BOSS GT-8 with the 4 cable method as well.

There are 2 parts listed in my YouTube channel here:

Here's the order of settings changes:

-I start with CH1 in Fat Clean (with a little reverb) and go from bridge, middle (split), neck, and lastly piezo.

-Then I hit CH2 in Tite Gain and go from bridge, middle, to neck.

-Then I go to CH2 (still Tite Gain) with a tubescreamer model in front (mostly bridge pickup here).

-Then on to my Lead patch which is CH2 still with a little comp and delay.

-Then I go back to CH1 and switch from Fat Clean, to Tite Clean, to Crunch. I had to mess with crunch a little coz I don't usually use it so nevermind the harshness at first. This is the hardest mode to tame on the Ace IMO.

-Then I end with Fluid Drive and later add tubescreamer for a minute then go to my Lead patch again.

I mess with the tube/diode switch and turn the gain down at the end I think too...

Nice demo, sounded really good. How do you find the gt8? I used to have a gt6 but found it affected the tone too much.

I love the GT-8. I have it hooked up via the 4 cable method. It allows me to use the Mesa's preamp and insert effects before and after the preamp for the best sound quality. There's no other way to use the GT-8 IMO! It does not effect my tone from what I can tell. It may decrease the bass and treble just a LITTLE, but I have the global EQ set for +1 for both bass and treble to compensate and it sounds just the same plugged straight in as it does with the GT-8 hooked up...

I recently dialed in a KILLER crunch mode tone. It is so bluesy and natural mid-gain! I didn't really capture this mode very well in the clips because I hadn't messed with it much, but it is one of the highlights of the amp. I may do another clip to demonstrate the crunch mode.

This is the most versatile Mesa amp i've owned! The only one that comes close is the Roadster, but i'd actually rather have the Stiletto. The Recto tone is great and all, but it gets really old really fast to my ears...

Sounds good, the Ace is a great amp. Can you explain the in's and out's of the "4 cable method"? I've heard people talk about that but I've never heard what gets hooked to what.

It's basically like controlling all your effects before the preamp and in the effects loop (after preamp and before power amp) in a single floor unit. Boost before the pre, delay after, etc. It sounds like a no brainer option to me, I wonder why it took so long for them to make it.

Out of all the MESAs, I think this is the amp that sounds more like me. How good is it for leads?

If anything it excels at leads (unlike me! haha). It's definitely the amp for me as well. It does everything I want it to do and does it WELL.

The connections are as follows for 4 cable method:

1: Guitar to Processor In
2: Processor Loop Send to Amp In
3: Amp Loop Send to Processor Loop Return
4: Processor Out to Amp Loop Return

BOSS does not 'support' this type of configuration (it's not in the manual or anything) and it was not discovered by BOSS either. They say to use it in front or in the loop.... not both! I wouldn't use it any other way with my Mesa though.
