The Lss is a nice amp. I'll be using a mxr 10 band to tighten the bass on the amp anyway the lonestars are a lil flubby for heavy stuff but post eq is the key on any mesa that's why marks have the 5 band. But is a ten inch adequate? It'll get more use at home and studio.

I've been using a Road King II combo for a while, and recently bought a Mark V. my JP6 works well with both amps, but i like it best with the Mark V. Both amps are rather different though, the best advice is to go and playtest whatever is in your budget in a store. i generally like to use my own guitar for that.

i've been very happy with my 5:25 1-12" combo. perfect for little pub gigs. when i play large venues, i'll add a boogie 1-12" ext. cab or a 4x12" recto cab. it cuts through no problem. i agree with Voo that it has its own thing going... not quite a Mark series, not quite a Recto. it works really well with all my EBMM guitars, a nice pairing to my ears.
i think the express series has a decent range of functions for its price range. the 5 watt function makes it a great home studio/practice amp, and i like the seperate reverb settings for each channel.

btw, i just finished a recording session using my stock hardtail AL through my old trusty boogie Mark III using just my 1-12" ext. cab (no pedals, just guitar-cable-amp) and that sucker really cut through. holy smokes! i forgot how loud and clean that amp can be!

CJ, you are the 1st guy that I have heard enjoys the Lonestar special. What exactly do you like about it, to the standard Lonestar is an amazing amp but I just couldnt get into the tone of the special. Im curious what you use it for?

I really like it as a 'roots' amp. Blues, blues/rock and some cool lower gain rock soundsI actually got a pretty good 'brown sound' out of it. I got some tones I really liked with my Silhouette Special. That, combined with the portability made it a winner for me. Unfortunately, I had to sell some things a few years ago during a divorce. It sounds a lot different than the standard Lonestar which is an all together different amp imho. The Lone Star smokes.
