Question Michael Jackson

Thriller was one of the very first cassettes I owned. Off the Wall was also a great album.

Plus, our dear Luke is credited in the liner notes on Thriller.
 
I was never a MJ fan. Not my kind of music. However, he was a very talented person. He could sing, dance and make people happy with his music. I hope he is at peace and I wish his family good vibes through this time. No matter who you are or how popular you are....your family still hurts and I don't wish that on anyone. :cool:
 
I was never really a MJ fan either. However I did like some of his music. Even though most people are being pretty insensitive about the whole thing (I've seen a couple "About time!"s, referring to the ALLEDGED sexual abuse), I'm choosing to be quick to his defense, and am generally surprised and sadened by the loss. Whether any of it is true or not, He was a talented musician and entertainer. I will be the first to admit that I made many MJ jokes in my life, but I also don't feel this is the time to diss him. Especially since he leaves behind a family....
 
A larger than life artist and a deeply troubled soul. That's often how it goes. "You painted pictures, 'cause the one that hurts can give so much. You gave me such." RIP.
 
A great loss, history will record Michael Jackson as one of the greatest music performing artists of all time and rigthly so, the man was TALENT pure and simple. RIP.

(someone mention a credit to luke? Louis Johnson is on there to iirc, he had a thing or two to do with the Ray if i'm not mistaken)

For the human being: Love & Peace. Let's hope he can find it now.

(Regarding his status as musician: I think he was highly overrated and most of his great songs are great due to important contributions of great musicians such as Quincy Jones and Luke and even EVH)

Don't agree with this though. Apart from producing some of the most memorable pop/soul/funk/rock music and performances over the 70s and 80s, his music also turned me on to some great bass parts.

I've still never mastered playing 'I Want You Back' or 'ABC' (yeah I know there were another 4 Jacksons on those songs :)), and Louis Johnson + others on Off the Wall, Thriller etc are just great...........and Louis was someone who turned me on to MM Stingray basses.

I just think it's really sad we won't get to see the Michael Jackson concert series planned for London later this year, and I'm v hopeful that I won't be exposed to media-hype shock-horror stories about the guy for the next six months. I do reckon he was an icon.

I believe he was a singer and a great entertainer. I believe he was a great talent who, like many other great talents, was a troubled and lonely individual. I am saddened by his passing, not as a fan, although I admired his work, but as a human being who wishes all his fellow human beings a happy life. MJ did not have a happy life and suffered trying to find it.

RIP MJ.

+1. Louis Johnson's bass playing on "Got Me Working Day And Night" and "PYT" were smoking. Classic Stingray tone. MJ was a great songwriter as well. R.I.P. Michael.
