So, it turns out that I've been awarded restitution after all (a thing totally up to the judge from what I gather lol).
I won't be able to pull the trigger until I get the payments in, but it got me thinking.... I have the D sonic on my BFR6. I LOVE it. My question is... the D Sonic turned the other way on the 7 string. How much different is it than the 6 string version? I love the mids and crunch and other juicy overtones of the D Sonic in the BFR (it seems to really like the woods), but with a 7 string, and it being turned backwards, I'm wondering if the Crunch Lab might even sound more like the D Sonic 6 string than the D Sonic 7 string does.
Now to make some sort of sense out of that first paragraph... lol
Basically, I want the 7 string to double as my backup. I don't want to take Ibanezes to a gig unless it's to tune to some funky Shinedown tuning (which will probably be happening soon because playing those songs on standard tuned guitars doesn't cut it. lol) But, I'd like to switch to 7 when I need to and if I break a string on the 6 to basically be the same volume and overall eq. I don't mind a touch different here or there, but I don't want to all the sudden wonder where my mids are. The reason for this is, when I break a string now, I go to the Ibanez JPM. Since it's Basswood... It sounds WAY different. lol Not bad... I actually use it sometimes on the heavier Evanescence tunes or Disturbed etc.
The other factor in my thought process is... the Crunch Lab might be better for 7 string over all anyway. I'm just worried that I'll miss the mids. I'm thinking the focus will be great on the low notes.
I do realize I can always make a pickup change, but if I can hit it right the first time, that's better because I'm not so great with a soldering iron. lol
Since I have a while to consider and discuss this, I thought it might be fun and I don't have to hurry. I can be very specific and really think about this.
If anyone near the Oklahoma Panhandle has BFR7s with both pickup configurations that I can try out at a gig... let me know. LOL HA
