Mixing the piezo live.

Have an EBMM coming with piezo. I may be dreaming but my plan is to leave my acoustic stage guitar at home and play one guitar for everything. I would like to run some options by the forum:

1) Separate outputs to two separate DI's and then to the board

2) Mix the two signals with a Dtar Solstice and send one signal to the board (have to purchase this preamp)

3) Drag my ZED 10FX to the gig and use it to EQ and mix the magnetic and piezo signal on stage and send one signal to the board. (already have this board)

With option 1, what are you doing with the magnetic output?

Firstly, leave your acoustic at home. You won't need it. ��

Secondly, you could try any of your options as long as the piezo is going dry into the board. Or as dry as possible. Not through the amp.

Thirdly, if you have a modeller like an AxeFX or line 6, then you could do something like I do in this post: http://forums.ernieball.com/ernie-b...splitting-signal-post1000676.html#post1000676

I can program patches to control which set of pickups are being used, either mag or piezo or both. Ultimately, the piezo is last in the chain and the patch determines how much signal is mixed in with the mags.

Magnetic through Sansamp and then to board. I should have mentioned that.

With regard to Jamie's post, the Axe appears to be awesome. I'm glad I don't have an opportunity to try one! I actually ended up with a pretty flexible setup that works pretty good for the unwashed ears at the open mic. I first go into the KFK MXR 10-band EQ that has stereo outputs. I run left output into channel A of a Blonde Deluxe for my cleans and super Tweeded-out sound. The right output feeds a British Character pedal and then into channel B of the Blonde. The part of your post that caught my eye was regarding the effects loop. I may be able to feed my piezo into the effects return on the Blonde Deluxe but I don't know. If this did work, it would not give me any EQ before it went to the board.

This is all fun and its easy to obsess over it. Where I live (small town - little pink houses), we are still haggling over basic stuff (tube vs Sansamp for example) and they boys will barely let me on stage if I'm not playing a tube amp. Trouble is, I've been there, done that, got a drawer full of Mesa, Marshall, Fender, Peavey T shirts, and I'm finished with them, that is unless their nice furniture and never move. I was recently caught with my pants down (so to speak) and got suckered into possession of a 4-10 Fender Hotrod Deville. Sansamp sounds way better. I'll sell it cheap if you'll pay the shipping. So anyway, an electric guitar sounding like an acoustic will really mess with people's doctrines. Is the piezo quacky like under-saddle setups?
