MM case question

I maybe doing a guitar trade next week. My SM for an Axis. Just looking for something different. Anyways they have a gator case I would prefer to keep my MM case. Will it work with the Axis? Also how would I go about to get a new term arm for it.

I'm pretty sure that the SM and Axis come with the same case - it's the general MM case that fits the SMs, Axis, Albert Lee, Silhouette, Silhouette Special, and Luke models (maybe also the Luke III).

My Axis case has a molded tray which is closely fit to the body. No chance it would take an AL, and I don't think it would take the SM, either.

The Semi Hollow case is form fitting but the standard ASS case is interchangable. The ASS Semi, Cutlass and Stingray have cases that can only fit that particular guitar.

Thanks; I didn't know the ASS Semi Hollow had a form-fitting case as well.

The form-fitting cases are still a fairly new thing for EBMM, moving away from the interchangeable case on new models.

Struck me as really weird that the Semi Hollow would have a different case from the Super Sport. But I went and checked, and the Semi is 1/4" thicker than the Super Sport according to the published specs on EBMM site.

Me thinks the Music Man cases are the best you could find concerning hard cases, sturdy and light.

I noticed that my new Luke 2 (not actually new as it's from 2012 so let's call it NOS) came with a bigger case than my LIII came with. The case is a good inch or two longer than the LIII case. Unusual in that the Luke 2 is a smaller guitar than the LIII. Why would it need a larger case? It isn't exactly a snug fit. Not an issue as such, but I'm baffled as to why that is...
Up until now I thought that the exterior case sizing was pretty much standard for EBMM guitars.

No, there are definitely differences in the exterior dimensions. For example, the GC case is noticeably taller, though the same width, as the ASS semi case.

The St Vincent case is huge, deeper and longer than the Valentine case, for example.

This is more likely to do with the case manufacturer changing things up rather than any specific requests we've made.

All cases are now cut for their specific model and generally feature a red label indicating which model of guitar or bass the case is intended for.

Between now and 2012 we've made the changes to case doctrine, so I can only assume the case manufacturer has added the extra inch to allow for some wiggle room to make sure all models will fit, since the shells are all have to be the same and just the interiors are different.
