Well, I can only go by the neck on my one MM bass. It's flat sawn. As far as the differences, it's said that quartersawn wood tends to warp less but I have yet to hear of a MM neck that warped in normal usage...on the other hand, I had another bass, (brand name withheld) that purported to have a quartersawn neck and the neck was as squirrelly as a noodle...it drove me nuts. I ended up trading it for another bass.

I've had a lot of EBMM basses and I'm not sure I've ever had a quartersawn neck.

Then again, I'm not sure I've ever really LOOKED.

Bongos are painted so it's hard to say.

I have a new Sterling and it has a

quartersawn neck.
