The half-time show at the Detroit-Miami game featuring John Fogerty, bass player played some kind of MM, could not tell model, only showed the instrument for a flash, but the PG is un-mistakable.

I saw that. Looked like a Natural finish Black PG with White UP. Judging from the decal it looked like a pre EB stingray.

Yes, obviously "we" (or at least some of us) need to do that, and since the mod's don't mind my suggestion is that you simply avoid threads called "MM sighting" and similar if you don't like reading about instrument sightings.

"We" are a relaxed bunch, aren't we:cool:

except it pushes relevant, applicable information off the page on a forum format that already isnt the best option for handing this many people.

I jsut walked into my room, and guess what?! My SR30th was sitting there! MM SIGHTING </sarcasm>

Of all things to complain about...

Anything else we aren't allowed to post in your forum, asphalt?

How hard is it to click a little number '2' in the corner to get to more threads? Or, if you are looking for particular info, there is always the search button.

If people weren't interested, they wouldn't respond. But, they do respond so, guess what? They are probably going to stick around. Get used to it.

Besides, they do hav a purpose. Since there aren't a whole lot of Musicman ads in magazines, people might not know who is using them. I find it interesting to see who is using a Bongo these days. I love that Colin Hay is backed by a Bongo. I'm interested when I find out a Bongo is being played on a big country music tour.

These are things I find out when I click on "MM sighting" threads. so, while it might not be relevant to you, it's relevant to some of us. and, I hate to break it to you, you aren't more important than the rest of us. And, some of us who like them have been here a pretty long time...

just for the record, I never said or implied I was more important than anyone else.

I still think they have total irrelevance, but oh well, I guess I am in the minority, it happens

I know you didn't say that. But, you know--pick your battles. ;)

Happy Thanksgiving, BA2.

I like to know what artists are using MM's, soooo many other brands get so much more publicity, MM's seem to sell themselves, maybe it has to do with the fact that the Ball name on the headstock & the family still own the company, not like Fender, Gibson, & many, many more.

I like the sighting threads, it's like a game to me, I look to see if whoever is playing one like mine. So far Stan Sargent formally of the Tonight Show band is the only lefty I can think of.

Happy Thanksgiving.... the first one that I was the oldest, but I still sat at the kids table. :D

WOW!i love colin hay even more now. i didnt think that was possible but well, there you have it

my fav colin song is 'just dont think ill ever get over you'

have you heard him on garden state soundtrack or on his solo album?

Darlin', I'm old enough to remember the first time he had a big hit. ;)

I have two of his solo albums--Looking for Jack* and Wayfaring Sons. That's all I've been able to find in the US. If I find more, I'll buy it. Unless, of course, someone in Oz wants to have me Paypal them for a package of stuff available there...

EDIT: Looks like eMusic has some stuff that I wasn't aware of....cool!

See? These MM Sighting threads are useful!

* Found that redneck in Texas. :D

I take notice of all the instruments played when I see a band on TV or live. Fogerty played a really nice Les Paul flamed maple top. Don't matter if it's a Strat, Jazz, LP, ES-335, whatever, I take notice, just happens that a MM, especially a bass jumps out of the screen at me, since I've become rather partial to this SR5 HH Buttercream.

Why Jack, you say the nicest things about me when I'm not looking...thanks for the plug!

Well, who could that be?

I figure I have to say nice things about you because we're always fighting with each other (politics, don't ask). Hey, I saw those photos of you with Lee Roy - brought back some fun memories.
