MM Sterling with a Broken Nut

Hey Guys, need help here. Just restrung my Sterling today with a set of D'Addario 105-45. Didn't have a problem with my Rotosound 105-45 or EB Reg Slinky's 105-50. This time, the nut cracked in the middle under the E string. It doesn't seem to be all the way through.

What do I do, is it gluable or do I need to get a new nut replacement... If so, where do I get them?

Super glue will work fine. You don't have to ask how I know but I wll tell ya. I broke the nut on my Bongo. EB would have sent me a new one for sure. I wanted to get to playing it and I glued it fine.

Do what you think is best in this case.

Just curious, was it a compensated or a regular nut? The compensated ones seem a little beefier.

Bongos all have compensated nuts. It was and it was my fault it broke too.

Dumb question, but are there any particular precautions to avoid the nut to crack ?

If you go to a larger string, open the nut slots up a bit.

Broken Nut

I went to my local shop, where I bought my Sterling, and the way that the nut was broken was a clean break directly under the E string down straight. The repair girl at Steve's Music Store, in Montreal, was very helpfull and she glued it up in 30 minutes, and passed it under warranty. She told me that should it break again at the same place they would replace the compensated nut completely under warranty.
