hey guys, I'm thinking of trying to find chrome pickup covers and knobs for this guitar. Have any of you swapped out covers before on MM90's and where did you buy them? Are they the standard size? thanks.

You can also go check out the Twelfth Fret. WE can get 'em from where ever. We have several parts distributors that we have access to. Allparts might be the ticket...although, I've never seen them in chrome... I've only seen the dog ears in chrome. So this might be a neat trick. Hinit hint...I'm the parts guy.

Rad, yah man there was a guy a long time ago that had an AL that he changed the pickup cover to chrome. Though he doesn't post here any more and doesn't have the AL to the best of my knowledge.

You'd be wise to call Customer Service and see if those one you have there will fit.

As far as the knobs, you could change the Strat top hats to Tele style, though you'll need to change the pots. The Strat style use a split post and the Tele style use a solid shafted pot.

Good luck, Glenn |B)

I actually had black covers sent direct from EBMM through Pete. When the guitar arrived he swapped them for me before I picked it up. they are held in place, along with the pups, by the two extra screws you see across the front.

I then ordered the black knobs, again from EBMM and swapped them myself.

On the topic of mm90 pickup covers, I also remember seeing the chrome covers and thinking that they looked good. I'd like to track down the supplier of those. Maybe they do them in Gold too?

CS, do you know where we might source these chrome covers from?

Edit
I followed the link to Amazon at the beginning of this thread and came up with [ame="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_3/102-7277749-3120911?ie=UTF8&me=A1YL6JT47QH4O4&rh=&page=3"]this[/ame]
I see that they do the chrome tremolo knobs that we talked about a few months ago, albeit in plastic !

I sent CS an email. I figure they're stumbling into the California office about now. :)

The Chrome tremolo knob is cool too. That would be a nice plus too. The chrome knobs would be easy to find locally.

All we need now is somebody in the US to get one of these chrome covers to see if they would fit the MM90's.

"ok, volunteers? - take one step forward"

There was a parts supplier listed on Project Guitar.com :: Guitar Project.com that makes replacement P90 covers in a variety of materials, including some delicious wood versions !!!

I hope that link is ok to post
Awww come on Pug - I'm just off down the pub !!!

You could have posted the exact link to MM90/Chrome/pickup cover/great quality/cheap ;)

I went throught this exact same thing on my Axis SS. When I spoke to MM customer support, they told me that the covers would have to come from them, as they didn't believe they were "standard" size, so I ordered black MM90 covers from them.

I also replaced the knobs with chrome knobs from Allparts, and also changed the vibrato tip to black. You need knobs for split shafts (readily available from Allparts).

The vibrato tip, if I recall correctly, is the same as standard Fender.

Hope this helps.

Here is my MM90 with black covers and guild knobs. I have always like the guild knobs and have them on a couple of my guitars. The guitar had the cream knobs and covers when purchased. The black covers I ordered from the factory. Not the best picture but gives you the idea.
