Has anyone ever tried to raffle off a MMEB guitar? I have a MM90 that is seeing to much case time and thought maybe a raffle might be fun. I was thinking it might give those on the forum that dont have the funds an opportunity to get a really nice guitar for not much money. Of course you have the risk of loosing your raffle amount. I was thinking about a $10 to $20 dollar raffle ticket. You would have to have a minimum amount of tickets sold to make it work for the seller. Any thoughts on this, good idea, bad idea. Would this be allowed on the forum?

Just a thought.

Really great idea. As long as the winner did turn around and sell it.

I'd rather see it goto someone that really wanted it.

Interesting idea. You'd only need to sell 50 tickets at $20 to get $1000 + PalPal and shipping costs. So maybe $25 a ticket? Don't know how it would fly with the powers that be on this forum, but 50-60 tickets should be pretty easy to raise, one would think.

But that all depends on the guitar. ;)

Interesting idea. Is this just a different/fun way for you to sell the guitar? Are you donating the proceeds to charity? Just curious. What I mean is, what if, at the conclusion of the raffle, you don't get the same amount of money that you could on the open market? Donating the proceeds to a charity I can understand. Just doing something nice for a forumer? Sure. That's nice too. Of course, you could always make more money doing this than by selling the guitar on the open market.

Just curious. Not making value judgments.

I think I would participate, depending on price. What guitar are we talking about? Pics?

I'd also feel safer if the powers that be were also involved to make sure everything was legit.

How about something like BP doing a raffle for a Dargie Delight or other model w/ more tickets allowed to be sold and maybe proceeds going toward the CLB foundation. You could raise a lot of money and allow many the opportunity to get a guitar they otherwise couldn't do a maximum bid on. maybe allow each member to buy 3 tickets or so etc...the details could be worked out later. I'd be in. Also, if I win you don't have to worry about shipping since I also live in the desert :)

Roburado, for me it was a fun way to sell it and as posted earlier a way for someone on the forum that might not have the funds to get into the guitar. Of course there are risks. Again, you would have to set it up so that a minimum amount of tickets are sold to cover your cost.

I am on the advisory board of directors for an organization called Able Flight. We give full scholarships to people with disabilities and teach them to fly. With this said, I also have thought about the charity angle. With what I already do with this organization and my church, I am not in a position to donate 100%, but the thought did cross my mind.

That would be a great guitar for somebody to win on a raffle if one were to be allowed.
It would have to be correctly managed of course - tricky one this - let's see what transpires from "upstairs".

I think this is a cool and generous idea. I'm not sure that it will fly here though. BP surely can't 'sanction' it in any official way, as states (and countries for that matter) have laws regarding 'gambling' and 'games of chance' which might apply to a raffle.

If the raffle is done by a private individual, that would probably not be as problematic, but even so it might need to be done in a less 'public' fashion.

It will be interesting to hear other people weigh in on this.

It is a good idea - except I don't know if BP would like to do this kind of thing on his forum.

I never intended for this to be an Ernie Ball sponsored event. Just something for the forum members. Maybe at the end of the day that is the same thing. Again, just thinking and not trying to create any problems.

Axis - I think you taken my comment the wrong way.
I was not implying any sponsorship by EB.
It's like ... "say let me sell my guitar, and how about using Spud's house to do it. We'll sell tickets on his doorstep, he can advertise the event and we'll do the draw around his house as well. Spud won't mind ?"

Well maybe Spud would mind. I just don't know whether or not the forum is the place to do this kinda thing.
Anyway it's not my house - I'm just a guest around here.
Edit
By the way that's a great looking guitar - you shouldn't have many probs selling that.

I didnt mean anything by comment either. I was really trying to do something nice. I buy and sell on ebay all the time and can sell this guitar easy. Again I thought it was an opertunity for someone on the forum to get a heck of a deal on a nice guitar. I do undertand that this could be looked at many different ways. I was never looking to make a killing on the guitar and my original thought was to limit the number of tickets so that would not happen.

hey i think it is a great idea. Id be in for a few tickets myself! Im suprised that the powers that be havnt already done something like this for the people on the forums! Like, ya know everybodies chompin at the bits to get one of those BFR's why not raffle one of those off? Something just for the forums. Oh, and of coure have it be auto graphed by Bp and whoevers sig is on it. I'd be hip to that too!! Hey it would be worth a try at least once wouldnt it?
