I was playing a guitar with P90s tonight, and got some pretty good tones with it.
I would assume the MM90s are similar whe using high gain or distortion, but how do they sound on the cleans?

like listening to a string w/ a really good zoom lens......
i love p90's when their not overwound.
mm90's sound great.
very fat & natural sounding........w/ more natural soundin mids than a standard strat style single coil.

Tommy's description sums it up nicely; the MM90s are not as hot as Gibson P90s... They do growl with authority when you turn up the gain, but I feel they have better cleans; they're more open and articulate than Gibsons P90s...

+1 ...

ive got an LP faded w/ P90s, an ASS w/ MM90s and an LP Goldtop w/ Duncan Custom p90s.

the MM90s are not as hot and IMHO not as "dirty". like everyone else said, adding some gain pups em up a notch and they shine!

clean i think the MM90s are cleaner than p90s. im guessing that the silent circuit makes this possible.

oops ... phone rang - gotta run. if i get a chance this weekend ill record sound clips for u

That would be awesome if you could!
It's hard enough coming across EBMMs let alone with MM90s! They only come on the Axii and Als. I have yet to see an Al in real life.

ok i did a couple recordings so far ...

this is the Axis SS MM90 and the Les Paul GoldTop P90 (Duncan Custom pups)

both recorded using bridge pups on GarageBand w/ "Modern Rock" preset and the EQ on "add brightness"

more to come ... feel free to ask me for something specific ex) clean - both pups etc

Axis SS MM90 - bridge - dirty

LP Duncan Custom p90 - dirty - bridge

note: i turned the gain on my M-audio firewire thing down when recording the LP cuz its hotter and clips way more than the ASS

I know! What can you say! The guy's getting old and has done much in a while.
I was a good show. Nothing to write home about though. But a fun time regardless.
