So, this weekend we've been mixing a CD that I've been helping a friend of mine with.

As it turned out, we had to do some "touch ups" on one track that had a super rough djembe track on it so last minute I put a new track of bass on it sans coooonga.

wow. a Bongo5 going into an API pre/A/D converter to ProTools then getting mixed on an SSL (with not a whole lot of tweaking) sounds AMAZING!!!

as I know it always has on past sessions but this track is so naked with just vocals, guitar,Wurli, shaker, and BONGO!! :D

now, gonna go and do some with it tomorrow on a "promo/investment getter" EP for a play.

can you imagine what a real bongo would sound like, mona?

yes I can , that's why it's honestly a pair of 6's (fretted and fretless) in Cabernet Pearl that I am working towards this year. At least a fretted and hopefully all goes well for an unlined fretless as well.

so yes, although I still am really happy with my moustache, I do still have some pangs of regret (not for shaving the neck though, that profile is amazing so the 25th's must feel amazing!!)

anywho... 'nuff of that, gotta go work it!!

Thanks for the reminder about Steve....got a far better deal at his place than at L and M.....Plus witty commentary of course.

"Witty commentary"????

Damn right it was witty....

Here's some highlights:

"Basses shouldn't look like Louis XV armoires"

"Single cutaway basses.....*cough*....*gag*....*vomit*..."

"Why?!!"

It's the same ol' shtick...but I sure do think it's funny!!!

Thanks Pete!!!!

...a clarification!

"Single cutaway basses.....*cough*....*gag*....*vomit*..."

....as in those really, really dumb ones that have the top 'horn' attached at around the 3rd fret...y'know the ones...they look like a Hagstrom that got run over by a surf board in a veneer factory....
