Work was hard today! I knew my new bass had arrived at the shop, so I was watching the clock until finish time, so I could go and pick it up. The guy in the shop and his colleague actually gasped when he took it out of the case!
I kid you not.
First impressions? I've only had a short play on it, on my Polytone Mini-brute practice amp, so I haven't got the full picture of what this baby can do, I'll give a fuller report tomorrow after it has been cranked up through my GK rig at band practice.
Here goes though. Boy, is this baby heavy! Stunning looking though. The neck profile seems a little different from my 20th Anniversary 'Ray. It feels more chunky. The tone(through a practice amp) has a lot more depth than the 20th I think. It also feels easier to play. Some of those complex funk riffs come alive on this bass. It feels like I could play it all day, it is that inspiring. I hope that feeling doesn't wear off.
Here are some pics. it really does exist!
Finally, a group shot:
I'd just like to thank everyone who encouraged me to buy this, you were right.
I'd also like to thank BP and all the guys in SLO who were involved in the making of this great bass. I am grinning like a Cheshire cat.
