That's no slam, it's the simple truth... I owned a Wolfie Standard for ages (Pat. Pend. goldtop - one of the first!) but cool as it was, it couldn't hold a candle to my Axises in the fit and finish department... Which is why I sold it to buy another Axis :D

an' dat's da trute, da hole trute, an' nuttin' but da trute, sose hep me gawd

I've had to shim the nut on my EVH since over time it started to fret out on the open B string. Without the shimed nut the open B won't play because it frets out.

You couldn't pry my EVH out of my cold dead hands. But neither of my Wolfgangs have needed the slightest bit of shimming. The fit and finish on both Wolfgangs is perfect. No they aren't as old as my EVH so maybe you can use that as the only reason for the difference.

Look, I'm not trying to haze EBMM and not trying to unrealistically stand up for the Wolfgang. The comment made earlier that (I think it was nobozos) didn't like the Wolfgang as much as the Axis or PRS for that matter, seemed realistic. If you love your Axis/EVH then by god shout it from the rooftops.

I just don't get it when people in forums like this, and it happens in all of them, some worse than others, have to slam other gear by saying outright or by implication that the competing gear is crap compared to whatever brand is being championed by the poster. We're on the EBMM forum so I would expect the positive statements to be made about the EBMM products. I say almost nothing but great things about the EBMM products here and on other boards. But based on what I've read on all of the forums I've been to, there isn't a guitar brand out there that doesn't "suck" or isn't an "imposter" or wouldn't be better used as a doorstop than a guitar. That's all brands and if you frequent any other forms you at least have a taste of what I'm talking about.

Whatever... I love all my guitars. My favorite tends to depend on which one I happen to be playing at the time. They each have their strengths and weaknesses and that suits me just fine. I don't think any of them are pretenders either. While they have their similarities, the Wolfgang and Axis have totally different: necks, pickups and bodies. Those differences are obvious to anybody who picks them up and plugs them in. I fail to see why those differences imply one is bad or one is good regardles of which one you think is "better".

I'm going to have to stop coming to these boards because this kind of thing is really getting old for me.

thanks

sorry for the rant.

Dude, lighten up a little, ehy?

I went back and re-read the comments. Nobody is slamming anything. We are just expressing a preference for one guitar over another. I personally never said the Wolfgang sucked. I said for $599 you will get a good guitar.

If you only have $599 to spend and want a guitar "like" the AXIS, GO BUY A WOLFGANG! On the other hand, I am sure that if you want to fork over a couple of grand to the Peavey Custom Shop, you will get a guitar every bit (if not better) than an AXIS.

And of course I am comparing it to the AXIS because that is where it came from! It is in effect a copy, whether you want to admit it or not.

I personally can afford to go out and buy a Peavey EVH Wolfgang EXP, but I won't for two reasons:

1) I have an MM EVH and an AXIS and they are (hold on to your shorts now) in my opinion better made with a better feel than the EXP.

2) I support AMERICA! The EXP is made in Korea.

These are, of course, my opinions. You can disagree or agree. I respect yours too. But to say that you are leaving because you don't like the comments about other company's gear?

That's the whole reason for a forum, to exchange ideas and opinions.

just to keep it fair.

In the spirit of fairness, I decided to start another thread bashing the EVH / AXIS.

Please see 10 REASONS WHY I DON'T LIKE MY EVH /AXIS

Actually, to be "formal" about it, it is referred by EVH as a "revision" of what he wanted in a guitar. I don't know the direct quote offhand, but in essence, he said in an interview that the EBMM was a fine guitar, but with the Wolfgang, they pretty much took some of the things that he liked about the guitar and refined them, and changed the ones that he didn't like (I would venture to say that one of them would be the carved top rest).

I was never trying to slam the Wolfie in any of my comments, and if it was taken as such, my apologies. That's not what I was shooting for...I merely like the EBMM much better over the Peavey, as in the old cliche "to each their own". :)
