My Stealth Bongo 4HH finally arrived today after it's incarceration at the local UPS hub over the Thanksgiving Day weekend. The package was surprisingly light.

I like flats so I installed a set of Labella 760FX flats and did a quickie setup and all I can say is WOW!

I'm amazed at the range of useful tones I can get with the pickups and eq especially with flats. It's so light.

The playability is fantastic. It has a certain feeling, like it's ready to pounce,
and the satin finish feel great under the thumb, and it's very light.

My teenage son is also very enamoured with it and wants me to sell more gear to get him one too. He likes how light it is.

I've had several SRs and Sterlings back in the early-mid 90's but got away from them for a while. I'm baaaaaaaaack!

Oh, and the color is great too but it tells me it wants to try an abalone 'guard.

Wait until the guys in our roots/country band get a load of this...I'm doing a with them demo in a couple of weeks. I think I'll spring it on them then.

Good job MM.

Did I say it's light?

ps: did you notice how much vibrations there are in the bass compared to say a fender jazz? its like its alive.. you can pick out which note youre playing by feeling the vibration in the left thumb! :D

Yes, I know what you mean and I agree it feels very lively. Resonant but not in a destructive, deadspot riddled way. I think it has something to do with that 24 fret neck joining the body around the 19th fret.

I can't quite put it into words, but comparing it to a P, a J, and several other solidbodies I have, they all feel like dead weight compared to the Bongo, even if they are as light in weight or lighter.

Welcome back! :)

We know what you mean. My latest appreciation for my Bongo is the percussive snap I feel under my plucking fingers...

I anchor my thumb on the neck-side of the humbucker - either right on the corner or just in front and the string tension at that point is absolutely heavenly!
