More Axis MM trem problems

I keep having trouble with the trem on my Axis. After I do a trem dive and return the trem to normal position, the G string always goes out of tune. 9 times out of 10, it goes sharp. It did go flat once. All the other strings stay in tune.

Also, during a trem dive, all of the strings except for the high E will go slack. The high E will drop in pitch, but it never goes slack like the others.

Any ideas as to what might be going on? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Couple of easy things you can do. First, tighten up your tuners (the screws on the top of the tuners). Next, clean and lube the slots in the nut. Either use a product like "Big Bend's Nut Sauce" (which I haven't used but have heard rave reviews of) or just use some graphite (like in pencil lead) to reduce friction. That should get you most of the way there.

As for the strings going slack, sounds normal to me.

One thing you may want to pay articular attention to is the way you tune the guitar. I posted this before, but like all things different, you'll always get people who disagree.
When tuning with the machine head tuners, always tune from flat to pitch, never from sharp back down as this will create slack. If you pass pitch, just back off a little and tune up to pitch again. Now I always tune from the high E up to the (or down I guess if we're talking tone) to the low E, and then I re check till all is perfect. I've also heard of a method called cross tuning. High E, then low E, B then A and so on. Again ALWAYS UP TO PITCH, never down. Now I assume your Floyd bridge is level and resting?

Yeah, it's sitting flush and level. I'll give the tuning adjustment and lubing the locking nut slots suggestion a try.

I'm no stranger to Floyds, but I can't understand why this one is giving me such trouble.

Better make that trip soon. I'm getting ready to move to AL in a couple of weeks.
