I sent this guitar in a few months ago to get resprayed because of stress cracks. I had it out in the sun yesterday and noticed this. This is much worse than any stress crack, as the paint will eventually just flake right off the side of the body. I guess I'll be sending it back again. Couldn't this have been avoided? :(

I can't say I'm totally shocked. My guitar has been back twice now due to cracks in the finish - I should be excited about getting it back in the next couple of weeks, but due to the problems, it'll never be the same. Since October 2002 when I got it, it has been away being repaired for close to 8 months and is the subject of dispute between me and Ernie Ball which is yet to be resolved. Before Jon chimes in with how the company has bent over backwards for me, let me just point out that I have not benefited in any way during this time. I actually reckon I've lost out. Good luck with your guitar - I hope you fare better than I have.

Sorry to hear about your guitar man. EB has always been super cool to me regarding this. The offered to pay for shipment to and from and respray the body for free. Not only that, but they are going to spray a new body now and when it's ready call me to minimize the wait time.

It is a hassle, but they are doing what they can to make it as easy as possible for me and I appreciate it.

one of my Luke's stress cracked and Jon had it back to me within a month. I would call and they would have nothing but courtesy for me and questions for me regarding how I wanted it set back up. So, I'll put a plug in for Jon and the guys and Aziah (Asia) (she was very helpful) and I think that there must be extenuating circumstances in your situation right jimmyp?

Sorry to see that happened to ya. But, sometimes, things happen unfortunately. It is good to see that they are doing what they can for you. I remember some of the problems with jimmyp. That's too bad. I really hate to see someone not happy with their stuff. I can understand the frustration, but, life can throw you a curve sometimes. :(

Boy oh, boy, are you having a run of bad guitar luck lately. I think you might have to make an offering to the guitar gods to straighten your luck out. :D

Seriously, the finish pulling away like that is weird, Iv'e never seen anything like it. Have you gotten any explanation why it occurred?

I've heard a few, but I'm no expert. Some say it's because the body was dirty when it was painted, others say because it wasn't cured correctly. There's also two spots inside the corners of the bridge cavity that don't even look painted. My guess is that it just didn't get sprayed good. The rest of the guitar looks great though!

Any ideas for offerings? I've used up all the virgins! :D

In all fairness, I think the major problem is that I live across the Atlantic and things take a while. I don't want to offend anyone who works for EBMM - they make great guitars, maybe I've just been on a run of very bad luck. This is not the place to air my dirty laundry with complaints. As things stand, I believe my guitar is being reassembled in the Uk with new body, neck and bridge(I'm not sure why this has been replaced but felt it rude to ask). I should get it back in the next 2 weeks or so and hopefully, this will be the end of my problems. I'll post a pic of it and my EVH in the next month or so on the official pics section. I sincerely hope that anyone else that has problems with their paintwork doesn't have the waiting periods I've had. :(
