What is the difference between the new roasted necks and the laquered stingray necks prior to early 90s? I have a Stingray 5 that is early 90s with laquered neck - looks much like the roasted neck but not as dark.

...and don't forget THIS one too...Guitar Center: Platinum

Well I just checked this one out in person, and I have to say the Roasted Maple neck is beautiful! The action on this bass was so low, I almost took her home with me.

The only thing that was a deterent "for me" was the finished neck. I much prefer the unfinished satin necks for thier sheer comfort and speed.

Don't get me wrong, this bas was amazing, just not enough for me to buy her.

I believe that is a Guitar Center exclusive color. You should probably contact GC. They may not even be taking orders. They may have purchased the ones that you see on the platinum site and that's it.

I'm pulling the trigger on the Vintage Sunburst 4HH with the black pick guard and ebony board, I was a little leery of the GC models as far as collect-ability price goes but I like seeing the wood, but the Black Sugar Roasted Maple is killer! I think it will be a nice piece in any configuration and not too badly priced for a BFR limited edition I wonder how long it will take to have them fly off the shelf. I just found out about the GC models yesterday and just could not resist!
