More strings automatically make you better?

I have 4, 5, and 6 string basses. I love them all, and I wouldn't do without any of them. I never judge a bassist by his bass. Victor Wooten could tear me up on a 4 string version of the cheapest bass ever made, but it doesn't matter. Some people need 6 strings just as much as some people need four. It's called variety and there's nothing wrong with that.

That's how I feel with the 12 string! Actually it makes me play less notes overall so it's ok!

The OLP 12ver is way easier to navigate than my Galveston was:

I'll clarify... I was having a dig at two recurrent themes that arise on TB. The first was the borderline paranoia that is evident amongst some of the ERB-toting talkbassers every time a question is raised about these instruments. Okay, it's an easy joke to make, but get over it guys... stop taking yourself so seriously that you look for offense in everything.

I mean, as much as I'd love to try this beast out, you'd have to expect some incredulous reaction to it if you went out gigging with it, wouldn't you?

I remember seeing the bassist for Tom Jones playing one of those once on Jay Leno.



I don't think he used anymore strings than your average 5 banger though.... But I guess he looked good to somebody. Probably a great way to pick up chicks.... You know - Big Wood.
