Hello to all, new to the forum. I've finally gotten around to buying a EBMM guitar on Reverb, a 1991 6 bolt Steve Morse in blue. It will be a few days till it arrives. Any words of advice other than to practice up like Steve?

Congrats . I currently have 3 but had 6 at one point. I absolutely love mine they play great . Only thing I do is swap out the pickups on mine . The ones in it are great but just not for me. You are going to love the guitar and then want more and more .....

And... here I am!

PM me your mailing address and will get your SMOC silk smoking jacking out in the mail upon receipt of photograph of your SMOC tattoo! :D

And... took all of about 30 seconds to figure out the switching, right? Now you can lord it over all the simple minds that say it's too complicated. :)

I love complicated switching! I think I've watched the videos of him explaining it enough times now that I won't need the switching chart. Operating it "on the fly" may be another matter however. Thanks to all for the welcome.

Congrats! Love how these look and sound. A pleasure I will probably never experience because I am left-handed. *sighs*

It arrived safe and sound on August 29. Very clean for a 25 year old guitar. Has what is alleged to be a Morse signature with good luck and a drawn guitar written with a sharpie on the front right bottom and it's pretty intact.

I had to loosen the truss rod to make it playable and it seems to be fine now. I haven't had to adjust the bridge height but I'd note that it looks like it would be a chore.

I've played with the pickup heights. The bridge is really strong, and I like the warm neck tones. The single coil closest to the neck has surprised me. When mixed in, it gives you some really strat sounding tones. When mixed with the bridge humbucker, it cuts the volume a lot compared to the bridge alone. Are they wired out of phase?

I haven't been able to play it as much as I'd like so far. I got up a little early to pick on it unplugged. I think I'm going to be very happy with it. Looking forward to more experimentation.

Almost 2 weeks now with the new old Morse. I've got the truss rod dialed in, and I've added a smudge more bridge height, about 5/64 at the 12 fret now. It sounds really solid unplugged.

Plugged in, I've continued to fiddle with pickup heights. I've tried the couple of official Morse heights listed here but I'm now using something different and I think it works better for me. I'm using a more standard measurement for the single coils. 3/32 on the first string, 4/32 on the sixth string when fretted at the 22nd fret. I've got the bridge humbucker set at 4/32 when fretted at the 22nd. And I've got the neck set at 3/32 on the first and 4/32 on the sixth again when fretted at the 22nd.

So my neck humbucker and the two singles are closer than the Morse measurements. I'm not using a high gain setup with my amp and these settings seem more balanced. Again, it's a really good guitar, and it's been getting most of my attention the last two weeks. Happy I joined the club.
