How come the hard tail Morse doesn't have a standard MM hard tail as per the Silo / Axis?

Not to say I don't like the one on the Morse [actually I prefer it to the normal one as I like tune-o-matic style bridges and the Morse is close...] and I know the signatures instrumends reflect the preferences of the artist, but wondered what the reason was for the variation?

Any info appreciated.

It's like you said in your post, the preference of the artist.

Steve's original modded tele had a similar type bridge (I think it was a tune-o-matic with a 12 string stop, but that's only a really hazy memory, so is probably wrong)

It's like with the trem on the Steve Morse model. It's now the only sig that uses the Floyd Rose, the Luke and JP both use EBMM designs. BP mentioned on a thread that it was weird, because Steve uses the trem less than he does the hard tail, yet still goes for the Floyd. I think it's what you prefer as a player and Steve prefers it that way and with it being a sig model, you get exactly what he does.

Yeah, it is kind of funny. Personally I love the look of it. There's a proto of the Morse in SLO that has the standard MM bridge, and I have to say it looks odd to see w/o the tuneomatic bridge.

Thanks Jimmy. Clears that query up!

I think Floyds are so 80's / 90's and the new vintage ones are way cooler, so it is odd Steve sticks with the larger lump... maybe one day he will see the error of his ways!

Now, if they only made a Y2D without a scratchplate...
