All I can say is....wow. I signed up for Neflix last week to give it a try, and I noticed that this week they enabled a bunch of movies for online viewing. I decided to watch Deep Purple: Perihelion. Other than at the open house, I have never really seen Steve play. I'm TOTALLY impressed. This guy is nothing short of a god. Great performance if anyone is interested. :)

you have much to learn! But you are on the right track. Morse is a genius, one of the best of all time.

Perihelion is good, but not the best DP w/Morse dvd out there, the Melbourne 1999 one is sweet, and Bombay Calling is good too. Check out his instructional dvds too, and the Sects, Dregs n rock n roll dvd- that is a KILLER dvd. Then you gotta get some of his cd's, High Tension Wires, Southern Steel, Coast to Coast, Stressfest.

Hehe....I've already got all those CDs. I knew the guy could play and I've been a fan for a while, but it's a whole different experience actually watching it. I thought he was great at the open house (my wife loved him too). I just didn't know HOW great. :D Thanks - I'll have to check out more DVDs!

If the Dixie Dregs every come around, you should definitely go. As awesome as his videos are, it's even more incredible live! Plus the fiddle player for the Dregs, Jerry Goodman, is just as awesome.

BTW Rob, I have that video of DP in Australia. It's hard to come by here in the states, but I managed to get my hands on it. It is a great DVD. A few of the "bonus" songs features performances at the House of Blues in LA. I think I went the night after they recorded those tunes.

I never miss a chance to see Morse/Dregs. I was bummed that their latest tour didn't bring them around my way. Morse is amazing.

Ohhh.... Morse is probably my all-time favourite musician. He's just the best, period. :D :p

That's not the only reason why I'm aiming for a EBMM SM, though. ;)

Total Abandon is one of my favourites too. First his playing is one of the best I´ve ever heard ("The" Guitar Solo!!!). Second, the guitar-sound on this record is very sweet, a little bit different from his sound on other records. i don´t know why, but I love it.

Rob, have you been at this show in Melbourne?

Working on Tumeni Notes myself...let's just say "slow" is a key word in this process.

Didn't JP actually say that Morse was *his* guitar hero? I thought I read that here in the BP and JP thread.

Not having ever been immersed in "the guitar world", I've only heard smatterings of guys like Morse, Luke, AL and LP, before coming here. I'm humbled and blown away. I've been playing the YouTube "Sometimes I feel like screaming" on and off all day. I just can not believe Morse. Divinity.

Yes SM is the fave player of JP, luke is a close second. How cool is that? JP is in the same guitar company as his heroes. :)

Tumeni Notes rocks.
