I've just ordered a Morse signature and I was wondering aside from the difference in wood and the additional pickup how does the neck and tone compare to the Y2D?
Like my first girlfriend, they're both flat as a boardThe Morse has no body contours right (belly contour / picking hand contour) ?
Nice call there
Neckwise, they're the same for any new guitars. The newer profile scanned for the Y2D also applies to the new standard Morses. (My favourite neck profile.)
Tonally they're very similar, but the Y2D's pickups are a tad hotter. They're supposed to be set lower to give you the same effect, but I definitely find the Y2D bridge p'up hotter than my Morse (but tonally similar). I'm sure I could dial it in to give the same output though. Splits really well btw- gives you great twang.
I've heard people say the Y2D is a bit brighter due to the maple cap, but honestly I can't hear it. They both have a great acoustic resonance to them, a factor of the bridge and poplar body.
So other than the aesthetic factors, switching and extra pickup, you're getting the same sounds.
Nice! The piezo adds another dimension ... but with all those controls it's like flying a plane.I like the idea of splitting the back pickup and I think I'll install a switch. I really like your piezo idea as well.![]()
it's very poplar these days ......
(sorry....couldn't resist...)
