Newbies setup

pedal board.jpg jp6.jpg amp.jpg

Im new here . After finding the EB i left Fender forever.
Pedal Board is made by Trailer Trash. I added the pedals of choice, To me this is the ultimate setup.
Just bought my JP6 Family Reserve and love it. Just dont have a use for a Piezo. Other than that, the greatest guitar i have owned. Amp is a Bogner Alchemist with a Mesa @ x 12 cab.

Guitaris setup suuppeeerrrr low action. That has taken awhile but a great axe all in all.

How do you get the pics in the text area.
Thanks, couldn't figure that one out.

I host my pics on photobucket and reference them by URL on here. Make sure to uncheck the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" option.

these threads always get so off track.

essential to me means DONT SELL/FLIP IT.

So, to me, the 2 pedals that have never been up for sale in the last 10 years:

Rangemaster (w/full boost/treble boost switchable). why? every amp sometimes needs a kick in the teeth. Some guitar/amp combinations sound best with the full boost. Some darker setups need the treble boost option. Since amps never stay around too long (amp gas), its essential to have a good teeth kicker.

Comptortion. again, a pedal I cant ever seem to sell. have a tubescreamer circuit and comp; along with a noisegate built in and is a buffered pedal. This one seems to get used in so many circumstances. Sometimes as a imp. buffer, sometimes as a comp, sometimes as a TScreamer.

So, sticking with the real question posed. Tone shaping pedals are 1st and foremost. Even with the Mark IV amp, 1 or both of these always enter the equation.

you can always add time based fx at the board...as a matter of fact, thats the best place to.

When I started this thread, I meant for it to be kind of a discussion to see what everyone's personal essential pedals are. It's interesting to read and see what other players prefer or find necessary as part of their tone.

So instead of getting the TC Flashback, few of my friends got together and got me the Strymon Blue Sky Reverb! That thing is so awesome!!! Perfect for ambient kind of stuff and Pink Floydish things as well as adding space to a dry signal. I for instance must have some time based effects to give the sound some character...it also makes me play differently...smoother and more fluid rather than a dead dry signal.

I just ordered the Pedaltrain JR and the Voodoo Lab power supply to officially start my actual board. So far I am really happy with what I have and are ESSENTIAL for me personally. This is what I have so far:

1. Suhr Riot
2. Xotic BB Preamp
3. TC Electronic Corona Chorus
4. Boss DD3 Delay
5. Strymon Blue Sky reverberator

TC Poly Tune and 1st gen BB Preamp, it will never leave my chain, the rest, I couldn't care in the world what happens to them. I too have a Flashback, and it's good, but I don't use effects, so.. But that's just me.

PolyTune is my only real must have. In streaming display mode it's 1/2 cent accurate and that makes all the difference in the world to me. Having said that, there are two other pedals that go with me most often...

Radial Texas Bones overdrive. It has two channels, they have a common gain control but I can dial in two different volumes and two different tones for rhythm and lead tones, and that flexibility is really great. It sounds fantastic, the build quality is amazing and it's the lowest noise OD pedal I've ever heard.

I prefer delay to reverb and my little Dano PB&J has been gigged for the better part of 7 years and is still going strong. Again, I love the two-button approach allowing long or short delays whenever I want.

in order of importance (it´s NOT the order on the pedal board!)
1) tuner
2) Overdrive (TS 808/SD1...)
3) Booster in the loop for solo
4) wah
5) Comp for clean work
6) delay

Ok, just resurrecting this thread since I have increased my pedal board recently. And I have also found out what is really the most essential.

The MUST pedals for me, are really the Polytune, BB Preamp and a Delay. I am still in need of replacing the DD3 with a Flashback and also would like to get a second delay...I will most likely also need a noise supressor, because the Pinnacle is quite noisy in the boosted mode, and if I kick in the BB on top of that it gets pretty crazy.

I was considering replacing the Riot with a Shiba, but I think I changed my mind. The Wampler is definitely more versatile and can come closer to doing the Riot thing, but the Riot is just really tight and great for the metal stuff in conjunction with the BB as well. I think I prefer the Pinnacle overall for lead stuff and the tonal character in general, but I really love the built quality of the Suhr.

Oh, and the Blue Sky is just amazing to add space to anything. I pretty much have it on all the time :).

Hey Ozzy, how do you like the smart gate? I think I will have to get one of these for when I have a lot of gain going on or when I split my pickups.

I'm really happy with my tone right now...just waiting for the Pedal Power 2+ to come in! Spending a freakin fortune on batteries...especially the TC chorus...eats them for breakfast.

I ordered the Strymon Reverb because of your thread. After watching the demo, It blew me away. Noise gates are tone suckers, You should try and work around that. As for power supply, Have you tried looking into the Dunlop brick? It powers 7 9V pedals and 3 18v pedals. Some of the Fulltone tone pedals like the OCD and and Plimsoul OD's can run at 9V or 18V for crazy tones. I didn't think the Voodoo Power was as good. Can't wait for the Strymon to show up....Thanks of that !

Dude,
Still experimenting. So far, it's just ok. I expected more. I'll give details at a later date.
Thanks
