And, P.S., at the salesman's request, I have never set foot in Manny's since, even though I work 6 blocks from there. And now I own 50+ Ernie Ball Music Man guitars... Looks like that idiot f***ed up that day and lost out on a LOT of commissions!!!!

:D

Way to honor the request... it's funny how people will up charge even to this day because of the supply and demand... guess he would have had a customer for life had he sold it for what it's was worth at the time... now 2100 seems like it would be a steal...

and i loved the way you reminded me of the smelll of a brand new case and guitar... good memories...

I honestly think they are all iconic. Every one of the models has something unique and different going on...there is always that awe factor. Look at the AL model, that thing is so radical and honestly I did not like it at first, but now I am totally loving the HH models and love the lines and the departure from the sort of classic strat look, which I still love of course. The lines are what it's all about...I mean the Silo Special, LUKE and JP guitars have such amazing ergonomic and sexy shapes, and than you have the big bold designs with the cool pickguards like the Morse models, Axis/ASS. And of course take a look at the Basses as well...the Bongo is so out there and cool, and the Stingrays are so cool too. They are all awesome design wise I think...there is something for everyone.

It's OK - you out lasted them. The family that owned Manny's sold out to Sam Ash several years ago, but kept the name for a while. They have finally given up the ghost and changed the name and signage to Sam Ash moving all the other guitars from across the street to the Manny's space. Rudy's is the last real place to go on 48th but they don't stock MM guitars. You can order them because they are dealer, they just only carry basses in stock.

And with respect to the original topic - It was the AL - it just felt right:)

the morse. I had been playing the same guitar for years and when I was finally in the market for a new one, I saw a pic of Steve playing a vintage sunburst model with DP and I knew that was the one.

The JP is my current jones, however.

Well it would be the EVH for me but boy has the company grown into what I consider the best line of guitars you can find today by a single company. There is something for everyone and everything is top shelf quality.

I'm going to be unpopular and say the AXIS not th EVH

The axis is one of the most copied guitars, it's got theshape of the EVH but for me has expanded it's foudation,

Don't hate me for it!

But Axis... it's also been aroudn for a while now, and still going strong....

Texas Finally!
Strings was where it started for me, knowing the name. Then I wanted a guitar that was light, well made and had EMG pups HSS.

Well there it was high on the wall in a GC, a Luke, did not know at that time it was Steve Lukathers sig and would not have made any difference too me dont buy them for names on the headstock.

Anyways afer an hours of negotiating it came home with te beagle and the rest is history!!

Silhouette or Silhouette Special.

Wasn't the Silhouette the first model built from the ground up under the "new" Music Man name?

Well I bought my first MM as a white silhouette because Keef played one.
However I still think the Albert Lee and it's Jetson's inspired design is to me the most iconic.

To me an iconic guitar is the guitar people think of when they mention a certain guitar company. Gibson.....Les Paul. Fender..........Stratocaster. So if that's the case what guitar first comes to mind when you mention Music Man. I think most people would say the Silhouette. I think most people think of Keith Richards playing them on stage. Now, I learned about Music Man because of EVH. That design got a lot of exposure. For me it's the Axis/Axis SS. There's nothing out there like it. That design stands on its own. It can't be compared to anything else out there. It's a classic design. Even though it hasn't been around as long as other guitar models The body design matched with that headstock design says Music Man.

I couldn't have said it better!
