I was looking at my profile the other day and noticed that I’m coming up on 4 years here. I know…that’s newbe status to some, but back then if you wanted a 5er it was an SR5 or a Bongo. I bought a Honeyburst SR5 off the wall at GC, basically on a whim, and fell in love right there in the store. Then I plugged it into my POS Franken-amp and thought “Holy $#!+, this is what it’s supposed to sound like!”.

4 years doesn’t seem like that long, but look at all of the choices we have now. It’s overwhelming, especially if you’re not in a “multiple EBMM” stage of life. I’m not complaining, though. I’ve had 4 EBMMs in 4 years and ordered my 5th the day before Thanksgiving. I’m firmly convinced that you can’t go wrong with anything that comes out of the SLO factory.

I’m super excited about my next purchase…a Sterling Silver Sterling5 HH with Rosewood board, black guard, and MHS. I was recently listening to some recordings of my original SR5 and decided to go back to that package. I sold it because I was a little disheartened after seeing the same bass in the same spot on the wall at the GC where I bought it a week later, then seeing the same bass at two other GCs in the following months. Since my SR5 was built in 2006 and had the ceramic pickups, I’m hoping the Sterling5 will get me there. I was debating as to whether or not I should wait to order until NAMM, thinking that some new color-choices might be available, but my wife reminded me that this probably wouldn’t be the last bass I ever purchase. So I went for it, and sure enough, Dargin posted picks of potential new colors the following week.

I love it! Just when you think you have it nailed, BP and crew come out with something different and equally exciting. It’s a thrill. So the point is to say thanks to BP and the crew at EBMM and you here on the forum for keeping this fun and interesting…Thanks.

I like the diverse EBMM line. It *almost* gives one no reason to consider other major lines.

Are you a KISS kinda guy? The SR got you covered. Want a few more tone choices but still KISS? The Sterling is your bass. You like pup blend? Coil switching? Direct pickup selection? EBMM has Bongos, 2pup SRs, Big Als and Reflexes for you!

Exactly! People will always find something to bitch about. I wasn't ecstatic about the color choices for my recent order, but when color choice is the biggest gripe...which it seems to be lately, then I'd say things are pretty good, especially considering the fact that the product lineup has at least doubled in the last couple of years and what is coming with the GameChanger.
