Interesting idea. There are 10 banks of 3 patches that can be programmed on this one.
 
I've contemplated the GT10B... Let me know what you think.

I'd also love any suggestions for a good comp/gate/limiter... preferably in a pedal.
 
For effects only, I like the Line 6 M13.

It doesn't do any amp modeling. You need to plug it into an amp.

What it does do is model almost 100 different effects, have a built in looper and the best user interface of any multi unit I've seen. At any point you can look down and see how it's set. No remembering what was where or scrolling thru menus. What you see is what you get.

Finally, the unit is software upgradable. They've done two upgrade since I bought mine. They've added about 15 new effects and upgraded many others.

Ok, spent today really getting to know this thing and I decided I hate effects. Or this pedal. Whatever.

It is being returned tomorrow and being replaced by nothing. In my opinion it sucked all the wonderful tone out of my Music Man bass and my Markbass amp.

It was a good experiment anyways. Had lots of fun playing with weird but useless sounds.

The savings will go towards my Bongo.

It looks like this may be the best route. Thanks for the suggestion/recommendation... I have been eyeing this particular pedal :). But it's always good to hear from someone who's put their hands, or bass on it.

Whilst I cannot find a picture of the wise Wazoo, I hope this of the Great Gazoo will suffice.

Now with the M9, I have access to dozens of phasers, flangers, delays and reverbs. The octaver sounds great to me and it tracks fantastically. You also have access to two different kinds of octavers on it now. The bass octave patch is modeled (IIRC) after an OC-2 but with better tracking. The other is a patch called smart harmony, which basically allows you to add a second note of any interval bewtween -9 and +9. It works very well as a -8 or +8 and it sounds much more natural than something like a Micro Pog and tracks just as well.

Before I went to the M9 I had recently acquired an Aguilar Ocatamizer and was enjoying using it, but as soon as I got the M9 and realized I was going to keep it I sold the Aguilar.
 
Of all the multi effects units I've tried, the Boss ME-50B is the most practical for live use, and using it is very much like individual pedals, since there is no LCD menu to navigate. I've heard great reports on the Line 6 M9 and M13 units too.

Over the years, I've oscillated between multi effects and individual pedals, but for the past 3 years have used individual pedals only. At the moment on my pedal board I have an Aphex Punch Factory, Line 6 VT Bass, and a Cave Passive Grunt (and a TU-2).
 
I use the same effect pedal you got and im quiet content with it the dist isnt really the best but the flanger and the chorus is pretty good and once u fiddle with the auto wah its INSANE , for the price the auto wah is really good plus if u like the manual wah pedal its got that to .
 
To me, there are two main advantages of individual units over multi-effect boxes:

1.) Multi-effects are generally digital and therefore always do a AD/DA conversion and introduce some milliseconds of delay and phase shifts, even on the dry signal. Pedals are generally analog and except for delays and phase shifting effects don't alter the original signal.

2.) With individual pedals, I can exchange a single effect if I find one I like better.

I've had some time to try the GT-10B now, and so far, I'm very satisfied. It's easy to use, even for someone without very much knowledge about multi-effect pedals, and it sounds awesome. Actually, I am thinking of buying a GT-10 for my guitar too!
 
I have my Markbass LMII loop set up for series operation and I'm running a Boss VF-1 multi-effects processor in the loop (1/2 width 1U rack unit, no rack ears, rubber feet installed on the bottom, sits amp top). I use a Tech21 MIDI Mouse to move between patches and a dual momentary foot switch as external parameter controllers (tap tempo, effect toggling, toggling two preset effect levels, etc.). I don't use effects often but i like to have the flexibility on hand should the need/want arise.
